1920 JAN 22 CC MIN- -t r E1 Segundo, Cal., Jan. 22d, 1920. A special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo was called to order at 12:00 o'clock noon on the above date, by Sydney R. Martin, President of the Board, pursuant to call of the Chair, and notice of the holding of said meeting given to each Trustee as required by law. ROLL CALL. Trustees present: Bryson, Smiley, and Martin. Trustees absent: Vandervort and beard. Moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Bryson, that the regular order of business be dispensed with. Carried. Trustee Vandervort appeared at this time and took his seat, the hour being 12:05 P. M. Communication from the El Segundo Chamber of Commerce, bearing . date Jan. 20th, 1920, and submitting three resolutions of said body to the Board of Trustees for consideration, was read, and disposed of as indicated, as follows: (Trustee Ward appeared and took his seat during this reading, at 12:10 o'clock P. M.) Resolution l,relative to cooperation of the Board with other cities in present legal proceedings for the abatement of the Eyperion nuisance. Moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Vandervort, that the matter be referred to the City Attorney for report at next meeting. Carried. Resolution II, relative to setting aside a section of the City as a portion of the City in which local building restrictions will be withdrawn. Ordered filed. Resolution III, relative to discouraging the patronizing of mendicants and advertising schemes by members of the Chamber of Commerce. Ordered filed. Communication from Sydney R. Martin, bearing date January 20th, 1920, tendering his resignation as a member of the Board of Trustees. Ordered filed. Communication from W. T. Dnnnavent and - others, bearing date January 21st, 1920, protesting reckkess driving and open mufflers in the city. Referred to the City Marshal with instructions to take necessary action. The matter of moving speed limit sign on Main St., and obtaining additional signs warning automobiles on Main St. of the proximity of a school was discussed, and the City Clerk instructed to order the same from the Automobile Club of Southern California.
