1920 FEB 18 CC MINr• RK 4 El Segundo, Calif. 'February 18th, 1920. A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo was called to order at 7:30 o'clock P. M. on the above date by William C. Bryson, President of the Boardq said meeting being held in the Council Chamber of the City Hall. ROLL CALL. Trustees present: Kessels, Vandervort and Bryson. Trustees absent: Smiley and Ward. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 11th day of February, 1920 were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Trustee Vandervort, seconded by Trustee Kessels, that the same be approved as read. Carried. The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Trustees held on the 16th day of February, 1920, were read without error or omission being noted.. It was moved by Trustee Vandervort, seconded by Trustee Kessels that the same be approved as read. Carried. None. WRITTEN COL URICATIONS. ORAL COLILUNICATIONS. Mr. Fred Turner of the El Segundo Garage applied for permission to erect a temporary corrugated iron building in the rear of his existing building on the Northeast corner of Main Street and Grand Avenue. The matter was taken under advisement. REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES. Trustee Vandervort of the Public Works Committee reported that El Segundo Avenue had recently been damaged by a heavy steam shovel, which had been driven over the same by Allen Bros., hauling contractors of Los Angeles. It was suggested that the Street Superintendent repair the same and keep an accurate record of his expenditures, so that the firm responsible for the damage might be billed with the cost of repair. None. REPORTS OF SPECIAL COIMITTEES. UNFINISHED BUSINESS. Moved by Trustee Kessels, seconded by Trustee Vandervort, that the following resolution be adopted: "RESOLVED, That from and after the first day of March, 1920 and until the further order of this Board, the salary of A. R. Gunn, Street Superintendent be, and the same is hereby increased from 4150.00 to $175.00 per month, payable monthly as other city salaries are payable. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Kessels, Vandervort and Bryson. Noes: None. Absent: Smiley and Ward. PAYING BILLS. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Kessels, Vandervort and Bryson. Noes: None. Absent: Smiley and Ward. NEW BUSINESS. Adoption of a resolution relative to placing on the ballot at the general municipal election to be held in April, a proposition to bond the city of E1 Segundo for TWENTil THOUSAND DOLLARS, ( 20,000.00) for the acquisition of a public park was discussed. A sufficient number of the Board of Trustees not being present, the marshal was instructed to look for the absent members and require their attendance. In due time he, reported that he was unable to find the absent members. No further business appearing, it was moved by Trustee Kessels, seconded by Trustee Vandervort, that the meeting adjourn until 12 :00 o'clock, Noon, on Thursday, the 19th day of February, 1920.
