The following letters were read and disposed of as indicated: Christian Science Society of El Segundo, thailking the Board of Trustees for having granted them free use of the hall Auditorium on the evening of December 4th and also for a refund made for hall rental paid April last. Orde:�ed 'filed, El Segundo lodge Do. 333, Knights of Pythias, advising that by unanimous action said lodge had voted to relinquish the Auditorium on the 5th Uonday night of any montly in which there are five laondays. Ordered filed. Petition of Matt Deragisch and others, requesting whatever' action is necessary to construct a sidewalk and curbs on the West side of Virginia Street, from Palm to Maple Avenues, Koved by Trustee Bryson, seconded by Trustee Davis, that action in said inatter be deferred one week to permit property owners in other blocks on the same street to make requests for similiar improvement if they desire it, Carried. The Street Superintendent reported thatthe garbage truck is in operation and is giving perfect satisfaction; that he proposes collecting garbage three days per %,,jewc and cans two days per month. By general consent, the Board agreed to this for the present. It was remarked that some change might be necessary during hot weather. The City Attorney reported that he had received back from Olmstead & Gillellen and County Health officer Dr. Pomeroy, the contracts he had heretofore prepared and that they are now ready for execution by the President of the Board and the City Clerk. Carried by the following vote: A,7es: Trustees Binder, Bryson, Davis, Smiley and Rueger. Noes: None. Absent: None. NEW BUSII,iESS. Trustee Rueger asked if it was the Board's desire to have the City's Street Department equipment painted during the winter months. It appeared to be and by general consent the matter was left to the 2ublic Works Committee to take care of the matter. It was suggested that the Street Superintendent spread rock on the floor of the out recently made by him on the right -of -way on the Pacific Electric Railway Company North of El Segundo Aveand by general consent this was agreed to. The Chair drew the Board's attention to the fact that trees on Franklin Avenue had been damaged by an individual who was moving a house during the week and by general consent the Public Works Committee was instructed to investigate the extent of the damage and report back to the Board, with the idea of retaining out of the deposit made by the applicant for the house moving permit, a sum sufficient to cover the damage. The Chair also remarked that fir. W. E. 1dorgan had cut down certain trees on Grand Avenue between Richmond and Concord Street, for which apparently no permission had been granted. The marshal and Trustee; Davis agreed to look into this matter. Trustee Davis suggested the purchase of two books, entitled: "Hand Book of Fire Protection" and "The Location, Construction and Maintenance of Roads ". Moved by 'Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Binder that the-/City Clerk be and he is hereby authorized and instructed to purchase these books at a cost not to exceed 47,00, Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Binder, Bryson, Davis, Smiley and Rueger. Absent: None. the City Attorney drej attention to an erroneous quotation from a recommendation made by him at the previous meeting as recorded in the next to the last paragraph of the records of said �r .7 meeting, and suggested that it be corrected to show that he recommended that the City of Los Angeles.be enjoined from emptying sewage into the ocean at Hyperion unless a treatment other than screena is provided. No further business appearing to be transacted at this m.;eting, it was moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Bryson, that the meeting adjourn. Carried.
