An adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of
E1 Segundo was called to order at 9 :00 o'clock A. M. on the above date,
by Sydney R. Martin, President of the Board.
ROLL CALL.
Trustees present: Ward, Work, and Martin.
Trustees ansent: Bryson, and Smiley.
Moved by Trustee Work, seconded by Trustee Ward, that the regular
order of business be dispensed with. Carried.
The Chair announced that the business before the Board was consider-
ation of complaints made by citizens on Arena St. concerning the action
of City Recorder Andy B. Powell in handling a trial held in his court,
vn the complaint of Mrs. Willetta Williams.
The matter was discussed, and the City Attorney related the eonvef-
sation had between himself and Judge Powell on the evening of September
16th, when he advised the Judge that it would be be legal to hear the
case and pass judgement at that time, but that -the complaining witness
should be notified and be present, which the Judge apparently misunder-
stood, as it appears that he convened court and disposed of the case,
without the knowledge of the complaining witness.
Trustee Bryson appeared at the meeting, and took his seat At this
time, the hour being 9 :15 o'clock A. M., and the City Attorney again
related the incidents in the case now being considered.
The Board thought it best not to take action at this time, and by
general consent, it was decided to give the matter further consideration.
No farther business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it
was moved by Trustee Work, seconded by Trustee Bryson, that the meeting
adjourn. Carried.
