The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 15th day of October,
1919, were read without error or omission being noted, and it was moved
by Trustee Work, seconded by Trustee Smiley, that the same be approved as
read. Carried.

Letters were read and disposed of as indicated:
From A. H. Hardcastle, requesting permission to maintain a one story
frame building recently erected within Fire District Ito. 1.
Referred to Building Inspector with instructions to enforce the
Building Ordinance.
From Andy B. Powell, requesting the acceptance of his resignation as
City Recorder effective November 1st, 1919. Moved by Trustee
Work, seconded by Trustee Smiley, that the resignation be accept-
ed. Carried by following vote: Ayes: Smiley, Work, and Martin.
Noes - None. Absent - Bryson and Ward.
Trustee Bryson appeared and took his seat at this time the hour being 8 P.M.
From R. Washam, requesting permission to construct cement sidewalk and
curb on the West side of Bonita Vista St. between Mariposa and
?palm Avenues. E.. L. Munger, one of the pr op erty owners on the
Street in question stated the,plans of the owners to the Board.
Moved .by Trustee Bryson, seconded by Trustee Work, that the prop-
erty owners on the West side of Bonita Vista St. between Mariposa
and Palm Avenues be permitted to place sidewalk and curb in front
of their premises according to grades, lines and sp eoificationa to
be tirnished by the City Engineer and to the satisfaction of the
Street Superintendent. Carried by the following vote: Ayes-
Bryson, Smiley, Work, and Martin. Noes - stone. Absent -Ward.
From C. S. Green, applying for permission to operate a Poal & Billiard
room at 320 Richmond St. Moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by
Trustee Bryson, that the following resolution be adopted:
WHEREAS C. S. Green, by written application filed with the City
Clerk on the 29th day of October, 1919, has requested that a per-
mit be granted him to conduct a Pool and Billiard Room at No. 320
Richmond St. in the City of E1 Segundo,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that said applicant be and he is hereby
granted permission to conduct a Pool & Billiard Room in said city,
at said location, for the period of one year from the first day of
November, 1919, subject to the right of the Board of Trustees to
sooner revoke the same, all as provided in ordinance No. 8 of said
City, Carried by the following vote: Ayes- Bryson, Smiley, Work and
Martin. Noes -None. Absent -Ward.
From C. S. Green, asking permission to use the Billard Tables of the
City, in consideration of which he would have the same placed in
good repair, and kept so, and permit their free use to the members
of the E1 Segundo Volunteer Fire Department. Referred to the City
Ate. rney for opinion.
From C. S. Green, asking permission to out door through side of building
and through partition in same building situate No. 320 Richmond St.

ion for work applied for be granted. Carried by following vote:

From L. Erb, requesting permission to construct show window and remove
partition in his building on East side of Main St. between Grand and
Franklin Avenues. Moved by Trustee Work, seconded by Trustee Smiley,
that permission be granted. Carried by following vote: Ayes- Bryson,
Smiley, Work, and Martin. Noes -None. Absent- Ward.

ORAL COMMUNICATIONS.
REPORTS OF STANDING COM6dITTEES.
Dr. Anthony, Health Officer, reported concerning his attendance at the
convention of the League of California Municipalities, requesting that the
City Attorney write a letter to the City or County of Los Angeles Board of
Health drawing attention to a leak in the City of Los Angeles sewer near
Collingwood and Bonita Vista Sts., urging its prompt repair. By general
consent, the'City Attorney was so instructed.
The Building Inspector reported concerning the unsafety of the theatre
building, and it was moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Bryson,
that the Building Inspector request Mr. E. L. , McMurry to place the building
in a safe condition before being allowed to proceed further with theatricals.
Carried by the following vote: Ayes - Bryson, Smiley, Work, and Martin.
Noes: None. Absent - Ward.

Moved by Trustee Bryson, seconded by Trustee Work, that the demands be
allowed and warrants for same drawn on the General Fund. Carried by the
following vote: Ayes - Bryson, Smiley, Work, and Martin. Noes - None
Absent - Ward.
NEW BUSINESS.
Trustee Work stated that the Band was going to move into other quarters,
and desired the help of the Trustees to the extent of $25.00 - monthly for
the payment of rent. Thematter was referred to the Public Service Committee
to investigate and report back to the Board.
Moved by Trustee Work, seconded by Trustee Bryson, that H. J. Barber
be appointed City Recorder, to assume the duties of his office on the lot
day of November, 1919, and to receive as compensation in full for his
services as such Recorder, the sum of $10.00 per month until the further
order of this Board, said sum to be paid monthly as other city salaries are
paid. Carried by the following vote: Ayes - Bryson, Smiley, Work, and
Martin. Noes - None. Absent - Ward.
Moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Ward, that the City Clerk
be and he is hereby authorized to bid $1100.00 for the purchase of Lot 11,
Block 21, E1 Segundo, for the City of E1 Segundo, and to deposit with
when presented. Carried by the following vote: Ayes - Bryson, Smiley,
Mork, and Martin, Noes - None. Absent - Ward.
Moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Work, that the City
Clerk be authorized to purchase necessary supplies for the Fire Department
at a sum not to exceed $50.00. Carried by the following vote: Ayes -
Bryson, Smiley, Work, and Martin. Noes - None. Absent - Ward.
No further business appearing, it was moved by Trustee Work, second-
ed by Trustee Smiley, that the meeting adjourn until Saturday, the lat
day of November, 1919, at 12 :00 o'clock noon. Carried.
