READING MINUTES PREVIOUS MEET ING.
E1 Segundo Was
in the Council
of the Board.
The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 12th day'of November,
1919 were read without error or omission being noted, and it was moved by
Trustee Bryson, seconded by Trustee Work, that the same be approved as
read. Carried.
The minutes of a special meeting held on the 14th dap of November,
1919, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by
Trustee Work, seconded by Trustee Bryson, that the same be approved as
read. Carried.
The minutes of an adjourned regular meeting held on the 17th day of
November, 1919, were read. No errorsor omissions being noted, it was
moved by Trustee Work, seconded by Trustee Bryson, that the same be
approved as read. Carried.
WRITTEN C CUMUNICATIONS.
Guy S. McIntire presented a request for permission to drive over sidewalk
on Richmond St. near the corner of E1 Segundo Avenue, which was read.
Iuoved by Trustee Bryson, seconded by Trustee Work, that permission be
granted GuyS. McIntire to drive over sidewalk on the East side of Rich-
mond St. near the corner of E1 Segundo Avenue, as per his application
therefor on file with the City Clerk. The motion carried.
J. E. Howell and others presented a petition requesting the improvement
of the alley between Virginia and 'Whiting Sts., from Holly to Pine Ave.,
and the same was read.
Moved by Trustee Work, seconded by Trustee Bryson, that the following
resolution be adopted:
WHERZAS,it appears that certain residents and property owners of the
City of E1 Segundo are willing to pay certain money in the sum of $75.00
into the Treasurery of the City of E1 Segundo, California, and into the
General Fund thereof, for'the purpose of causing certain street improve-
ments within said city to be made, and,
WHEREAS, said sum has been deposited with the City Clerk of said
City with instruction to pay the same into said General Fund upon the
adoption of the following:
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Street Superintendent be and
he is hereby instructed to cause the portion of that certain public alley
within the City of E1 Segundo, California, lying and being between Virgin-
ia and Whiting Stu. and running.North & South between Holly and Pine Aven-
ues to be improved by the construction therein of the following improve-
ment, to -wit: Same work as has been done on Palm Avenue.
The resolution was passed by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Bryson, Work, and Martin.
Noes: None.
Absent: Trustees Smiley and Ward.
ORAL C OM=NICATI ONS.
Mr. Ed S. Smith stated that the Band wanted to give a concert and
dance in the City Hall Auditorium on December 3d, 1919, on which night
the Boilermaker's Union would surrender use of the hall to the Band, if
the Board of Trustees would grant permission. Moved by Trustee Bryson,
seconded by Trustee Work, that the Band be granted permission to use the
Auditorium on the evening of December 3d, 1919, for the purpose of holding
a concert and dance. Carried.

the walls. Upon investigation, it was found that nothing in the Building
Ordinance prohibits such construction.
Relief Fire-Engine Dyer stated that one of the cylinders of the Fire Engine
was scored and that the same should be re -bored The matter was referred
to the Public Safety Committee.

REPORTS OF STANDING COMMIT ' .
REPORTS OF SPECIAL C Or' ITTEES.
City Engineer Cory advised that he had set stakes for the erection of
electroliers at Main St. and Belleview Avenue, and that the profiles of
the grade for Main St., and Mariposa Avenue had been finished.
At 8;15 o'clock P. K., the Chair declared a recess of two minutes.
At 8 :17 o'clock P. M., the Trustees reconvened, Bryson, Work, and
Martin being present.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS.
The mater of purchasing a road roller was discussed, and it was moved
by Trustee Work, seconded by Trustee Bryson, that the City Clerk be, and
he is hereby instructed to advertise for bids on a self propelled road
roller, seven to eight ton tandem type, new or second -hand. Carried by
the following vote: Ayes: Bryson, Work, and Martin.
Noes: None.
Absent: Smiley and Ward.
The City Clerk informed the Board that W. E. Morgan, agent for the
Leasure Building, the hall in which had been rented by the City for the
use of the Volunteer Fire Department and the Band, had stated to him that
unless the city would lease the building for one year, t1tey might be requir ----,
ed to pay more rent before the expiration of a year. Moved by Trustee
Work, seconded by Trustee Bryson, that the City Attorney be instructed to
prepare a lease covering the hall in the Leasure building for one year at
the monthly rental of $25.00. Carried.
PAYING BILLS.
The following demands, having had the approval of the Committee on
Finance and Records, were read:

Moved by Trustee Work, seconded by Trustee Bryson, that the demands
be allowed and warrants for same drawn on the General Fund. Carried by
the following vote: ayes: Trustees Bryson, Work, and Martin.

Absent: Smiley and Ward.
NEW BUSINESS.
Moved by Trustee Work, seconded by Trustee Bryson, that the City Clerk
be authorized to purchase blankets for the jail, dog chains for the Marshal,
and spark plugs for the St. Supt., at a cost not to exceed $30.00. Carried
by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Bryson, Work, and Martin.
Noes: None.
Absent: Smiley and Ward. . _.
President Martin requested the Clerk to extend thanks of the Board of
Trustees to the El Segundo Volunteer Fire Department for the invitation to
attend a ban4uet held at Venice Nov. 15th, 1919, by said organization.
No further business appearing, it was moved by Trustee Work, seconded
by Trustee Bryson, that the meeting adjourn. Carried.
