1919 NOV 12 CC MINEl Segundo, Cal., Hov.•12th, 1919. Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo was called to order at 7 :30 o'clock P. h. on the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall by Sydney R. Martin, President of the Board. ROLL CALL Trustees present: Bryson, Ward, Work, end martin. Trustees absent: Smiley. JEADI� %G I'ITLiUTES Pia; TIOUS 12ETING. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 5th day of November, 1919, were read with no errors or omissions being noted, and it was moved by Trustee Work, seconded by Trustee Bryson, that the same be approved as read. Carried. WRITTEN COLL:UNICATIONS. Application from the Board of School Trustees for permission to lay a pipe line in Concord St. from the South line of E1 Segundo Ave. to the North line of Mariposa Avenue, said pipe line to be laved three feet East of the West curb line of said Concord St. and at a minimum depth of two feet six inches below the surface of said street was read. ILoved by Trustee 7ork, seconded by Trustee Ward, that the following resolution be adop ted : ','SOLVED that permission be granted the E1 Segundo School Board to lay a pipe line for the transportation of water in Concord Street, as per their application and the specifications therefor on file in the office of the City Clerk, subject to ordinances of the City of El Segundo appertaining thereto, the City of El Segundohereby reserving the right to change the grade of said Concord street or any portion thereof, and to-require the grantee of this permit to change the location of said pipe line or any appurtenances used in connection therewith, such changes to. be-made at the expense of the grantee of this privelege." The resolution was adopted by the following votes: Ayes: Trustees Bryson, JUDD= Ward, Work, and Martin. Noes: - Trustees None. Absent: Trustee Smiley. ORAL CGUMUNICATIONS. G. W. French addressed the Board relative to the purchase of a road roller. REPORTS OF S?EC IAL C OiJKI TTEES Trustee Yard reported that the hall in the Leasure Building could be rented for the Volunteer Fire Department for the sum of $25.00 per month on a ,yearly lease or a month to month basis. Moved by Trustee Vork, seconded by Trustee Bryson, that the following resolution be adopted: "RESOLVED that the upper floor of that certain two story brick building situated on the East side of Main St. between Grand and Holly Avenues, in the City of E1 Segundo, and known as the Leasure Building, be rented for the use of the E1 Segundo Volunteer Fire Department, and the El Ssega.ndo Band, at a monthly rental of $25.00, payable monthly until the further order of this Board. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: - Bryson, Ward, Work, and Martin. Noes: - None. Absent: - Smiley. R'*' ORTS OF STANDING C CUUITTEES. Trustee Bryson of the Public Works Committee stated that in his opin- ion he would be able to have the electroliers installed at Main St. and Bell eview Avenue about the first of next week. UNFINISHED BUSINESS. Moved by Trustee Bryson, seconded by Trustee Work, that the following resolution be adopted: "RESOLVED THAT G. T. MATTINGLY be and he is hereby appointed Fire Engine Driver of the City of E1 Segundo, to assume his duties on the 15th day of November, 1919, and to receive as comaensation in full for his services as va.sva -vi. Absent: - Smiley. The matter of furnishing the fireman's quarters was discussed and referred to the Public Safety Committee for recommendation and report. Moved by Trustee Ward, seconded by Trustee Bryson, that Ordinance No. 56, entitled: "Ali ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING VACANT FOR PUBLIC STREET PURPOSES, A CERTAIii PORTION OF CON- CORD STREET WITHIN THE SAID CITY!', which was introduced and read at a regular meeting of the Board of Trustees held on the 5th day of November, 1919, be adopted; Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Bryson, Ward, Work, and Yartin. Noes: Trustees None. Absent: Trustee Smiley. The City Attorney advised that without certain changes being made in the Building Ordinance of the City of E1 Segundo, it would be imposs- ible to conduct a moving picture show in the City Hall. Moved by Trustee Work, seconded by Trustee Bryson, that the action heretofore taken by this Board granting 1dr. E. L. McMurry permission to use the City Hall Auditorium for moving picture shows be rescinded and the permit denied. Carried. The matter of a road roller was again. discussed following which it was moved by Trustee Work, seconded by Trustee Ward, that the matter be laved over for one week. Carried. PAYING BILLS. Carried by the following vote: Ayes:- Bryson, Ward, Work, and Martin. Noes: -None. Absent : - Smiley. NEW BUSINESS. Moved by Trustee work, seconded by Trustee Bryson, that the following resolution be adopted: ^WHEREAS on the 30th day of July, 1919, the Board of Trustees passed a resolution appointing C. S. Green Asst. Building Inspector, and WHEREAS another resolution having the same effect was passed through error on the 5th day of October, 1919, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the action taken October 5th, 1919, be and the same is hereby rescinded and of no effect and that said action shall in no way prejudice the right of said Asst. Building Inspector to compensation for his services rendered as such official as ordered by this Board;0ctober 5th, 1919. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes : - Bryson, Ward, Work, and kartin. Noes : - None. Absent : - Smiley. No further business appearing, it was moved by Trustee Work, seconded by Trustee Ward, that the meeting adjourn until Monday, the 17th day of November, 1919, at the hour of 7 :00 o'clock P. M.
