The minutes of the meeting held on the 7th day of Kay, 1919, were
read without error or omission being noted and it was moved by Trustee
Work, seconded by Trustee Bryson, that the some be approved as read.
Carried.
Trusted Ward appeared immediately after the reading of the minutes,
and took his seat, the hour being 7 :40 o'clock p. m.

The following communications were read:
From Arthur K. Loomis, Certified Public Accountant, applying for the
p rivelege of making the annual audit of the books of the City Clerk and
City Treasurer.
From the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Co. advising that instruct-
ions had been issued for the payment to the City of E1 Segundo, of 10�jo
on the amount of long distance telephone calls placed over their public
telephone line in the City Hall.
From E. Ridley applying for permit to move a one story frame building
from the East side of Richmond St. to the East side of Concord St.
Moved by Trustee Bryson, seconded by Trustee Smiley, that the commun-

Miss Elton presented a proposition to the Board to guarantee the sale
of a certain number of season tickets at $2.50 each to enable theEllison
Chataqua to present their entertainment in E1 Segundo for a five day period
in June, 1920. The matter was referred to the Public Service Committee.
ilr. 17. !, :. ILeKnight, District Llana-er of the Southern California Edison
Co. again addressed the Board with reference to the street lights requested
for the corners of Virginia St. and Walnut Ave. and Virginia St., and Coll -
ingwood St., stating that if these were omitted from the contract about to
be drawn, the city would be able to obtain other lights at some future date
which it would be impossible to install if these two are insisted upon now.
By general consent, he was instructed to prepare the contract including the
sixteen lights requested some time ago, but omitting the two above referred
to.

HEARING of the application 05T`Wagh�w s Inglewood Express for a Certif-
icate of Public Convenience and Necessity to operate automobiles and auto
tracks within the City of El Segundo, having heretofore been made a special
order of business for the hour of 8:00 o'clock P. M. at this meeting, the
Chair announced that the hour of 8:00 o'clock P. M. had arrived and that
the Board of Trustees was ready to hear the matter.
Mr. Clyde Woodworth as attorney for the applicant stated that his client
desired to conduct the business of trucking within the City of El Segundo,
as per the schedules set forth in his application, and no objection to the
granting of the application being made, it was moved by Trustee Smiley,
seconded by Trustee Work, that the application of Wagner's Inglewood Express
for a Certificate of Public Necessity to operate automobiles and auto
trucks in freight and express service upon the public streets of the City
of E1 Segundo, said application being application No. 1, be granted for the
maximum period provided by law. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Bryson, Smiley, 'Hard, Work, and Martin.
Noes: None.
Absent: None.

The matter of jail cells was briefly discussed and by general consent
it was decided to let the matter drop.
Trustee Bryson of the Public ':Works Committee reported that he had again
investigated the condition of Franklin Ave. as complained of by Andy B. Powell
and that he could find no condition of a dangerouf nature.
Trustee Bryson instroduced Ordinance No. 51, entitled: "AN ORDINANCE OF
THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, A EUTDING ORDINANCE NO. 31 OF SAID CITY,

be granted E. Ridley to move the building referred to in his application
therefor, reed and filed at this meeting. Carried.
