Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of El Segundo
was called to order a t 7:30 o'clock 2. L. on the above date, in the
Council Chamber of the City Hall, by Sydney R. Martin, ?resident of the
Board.

The minutes of the regular meeting of the Board held on the 11th day
of June, 1919, were read without error or omission being noted, and it was
moved by Tn stee Bryson, seconded by Trastee Smiley, that the same be app-
roved as read. Carried.

Letter from the American Rubber T._fg. Co. stating that they would.
furnish the City gratis, nozzles, spanners, and one Siamese coupling was
read and upon motion by Trustee Bryson, seconded by Trustee Smiley, same
was ordered filed.

The City Clerk reported that the linoleum in the City Hall had been
shellaced by Barker Bros.

The matter of a map holder for the official maps in the City Clerk's
office and for the Council Chamber w4s laid over for one week, owing to
the absence of Trustee :fork who had been investigating the same.
The request of the Fire department for a glass 11annel and stand for
Sulphuric Acid container was laid over for one week.

Tr`�stee Smiley drew: attention to the crossing of the ?acific Electric
?,y. Co. at Arizona Drive and El Segundo Avenue, stating that owing to in-
sufficient safeguards at that point, several accidents had been narrowly
averted recently. The City Attorney explained that in correspondence had
with this company in the past concerning the sake matter, they advised
that the cressin.-; .as no worse than others on some of their lines, that
a wig -wag had been installed, and a rule promulgated that cars should not
proceed over the crossing more than four miles per hour.
Following discussion, it . has moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by
Tr,.;stee 3rysor_, that the City Clerk be instructed to coL- Municate with the
2acific Electric Railway Co. stating conditions as to their crossing at
Arizona Drive and El Se--ndo avenue, and regaestin: observance of their
four -mile rule on the crossing, else the Board of Tr. stees would pass an
ordinance limiting speed at said point. Carried.
-he City Clerk advised 1,2e 3oard that property owners on maple Avenue
had applied for a petition to be circulated, for the inaroven.ent of said
street, and that before giving the form to the applicants, he wished to
know. if the Board intended to continue improving streets under the same
plan used on ?aL , Virginia, 'kiting, and others. The matter was layed over
for one week.to enable the Street Committee to look into the matter. - -�
11oved by Trustee Bryson, seconded by Trustee Smiley, that the City
Clerk be instructed to order 300 feet of 22 inch S. J. American Fire Hose
from: the A- erican Rubber I:'fg. Co., at a cost not to exceed � 225.00.
Carried by the following vote:

Noes: None.
Absent: Trustees Ward, and Work.
