Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo, was
called to order at 7:30 o'clock p. m. on the above date, in the Council
Chamber of the City Hall, by Carl Ernest Rueger, President of the Board.
ROLL CALL
Trustees present: Bryson, Martin, Ward, Work, and Rueger.
Trustees absent: None.
READING Iti INUTES PREVIOUS Kr,ETING.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read without error or omission
being noted, and it was moved by Trustee Ward, seconded by Trustee Martin,
that the same be approved as read: Carried.
WRITTEN COLM dUNICATI0iT5.
Application of the Speers System, to erect a billr)boa_-d at the North -
West corner of El Segundo Avenue and Lia.in St., was read. Moved by Trustee
Bryson, seconded by Trustee Ward, that the same be filed. Carried.

REPORTS OF SPECIAL 001 MITTEES.
The City Clerk reported that he had procured six chairs, as ordered by
the Board of Trustees, at a total net price of $38.00, from the Los Angeles
Desk Company.
The City Clerk reported also, that in conversation with 1,1r. 'McKnight of
the Southern California Edison Company, he had been informed that the said
Company would install the lights in the Hollingsworth Tract, which were re-
quested by letter from this Board under date of September 12th, 1918.
'UNFINISHED BUSINESS.
Loved by Trustee Ward, seconded by Trustee Bryson, that the following
resolution be adopted:
RESOLVED, that the Speers System be granted permission
to erect a Bill- board, at the corner of E1 Segundo Avenue and 1�a.in St., at
the location designated in their application theefor on file with the City
Clerk, and be it further
RESOLVED, that the Board of Trustees reserves the right
to revoke the within permit at any time upon refunding to the holder thereof
the pro rata portion of the license fee paid therefor, whenever in the dis-
cretion of said Board the public interest &- necessity or safety of said city
demand that the same be removed.
Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Bryson, Liartin, dard, Work, and Rueger.
Noes: None.

S2 3CIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS.
The receiving of bids for furnishing to the City of E1 Segundo, one
gasoline motor truck, having heretofore been made a special order of business
for the hour of 8 :00 o'clock p. m. at this meeting, pursuant to previous
action of the Board of Trustees and notice to that effect duly published, the
Chair announced the hour of 7:59 o'clock D. m., and stated that any person or
persons desiring to file bids for the truck hereinbefore mentioned, should
present the same immediately. The hour of 8:00 o'clock P. m. having arrived,
and all bids being in, the President declared that the bids for furnishing
to the City of El Segundo, one gasoline motor truck, as advertised, were
closed.

The only bid for furnishing said motor truck to the City of E1 Segundo,
was found and determined by said Board to be as follows:
"Inglewood, Cal., Jan. 7th, 1919.
To the Honorable Board of Trustees, of the
City of El Segundo, Calif.
Gentlemen:
We, the undersigned, wish to submit our bid for your consider-
ation, for the Motor Truck, as published by you in the El Segundo Herald
as of January 3rd, 1919, calling for certain specifications
Specifications of Gasoline Motor Truck we propose to furnish,
viz; Ton
Ford Motor Companys One /Truck Chasis.
The motor is a 4 cylinder, 20 horse power, three and three quarter
inch bore by four inch stroke, water cooled.
Wheel base, 124 inches. Front wheels to be equipped with pneumatic
tires, size 30 x 3119 rear wheels a solid rubber tire, size 32x3 ", all of
a standard matte. Final drive, is of the worm type, inclosed in a dust
and o it proof housing. A complete siecification of this Truck Chasis is
attached hereto.
The body we propose to furnish with the truck, is substantially the
same as specifications hereto attached, which is made by the Henney Buggy
Branch of the 1"oline Blow Company. We will furnish the above described
One Ton Truck chasis f. o. b. E1 Segundo together with 5 gal..sgas, and
one gal. oil for, $636.14
'.7e will furnish body, style No. 416 for 153.45
making a total for the ton Truck and body of 789.59
Or, we will furnish 3ody, style No. 415, which
is similar to No. 416, for 140.85

Said bid was accompanied with certified check #3013 on the Bank, Inglewood.
Moved by Trustee Ward, seconded by Trustee Work, that the following
resolution be adopted:
WHEREAS pursuant to notice calling for the same, one bid was received
for furnishing to the City of E1 Segundo, one gasoline motor truck, which
said bid was opened and publicly declared by the Board of Trustees of
said City, said bid being as follows to -wit: $789.59, and accompanied by
descriptive literature,
NOff FHEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that this Board of Trustees finds the
truck described in said bid, to -wit:- The Ford one -ton truck, with s,,#-J;yTle
No. 416 body, is the truck best suited for the needs of said City at the
present time, and that the contract for furnishing the same be awarded to
Bush and Hurlbert, at the price named in said bid, viz., $789.59, and that
the order submitted by the bidder, be executed by the President of the
Board, and the City Clerk.
Carried by the following vote:
