E1 Segundo, Cal., April 30th, 1919.
Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo
was called to order at 7:30 o'clock P.! . on the above date, in the Council
Chamber of the City Hall, by Sydney R. Martin, Pres-
ident of the Board.
ROLL CALL
Trustees present: Smiley, Ward and Martin.
Trustees absent: Bryson, and Work. Trustees Bryson & 77ork app-
eared after roll call and took their seats at 7 :30 o'clock P. 1..
READING MINUTES PIEVIOUS ..=TING.
The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 23d day of April, 1919,
were read without error or omission being noted, and it was moved by Trus-
tee Work,, seconded by Trustee Bryson, that the same be approved as read.

WRITTEN CO --.!T-, RICATIONS.
A letter from Clyde Woodworth, submitting the application of Wagner's
Inglewood Express for a certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity to
operate automobiles and auto trucks was read and it was moved by Trustee
Bryson, seconded by Trustee Smiley, that the same be filed. Carried.
None.

Trustee Smiley reported that the Standard Oil Company's sign to be
erected on E1 Segundo at the Southern end of Main Street was in course of
preparation and would be set without expense to the City within a few days.
Trustee Bryson reported that the matter of garbage disposal was still
under consideaation as the Health Officer had been unable_to find any land
but that he ,as looking further.
Trustee Smiley reported that the requirements of the Baseball Club had
been satisfied.
Public Works Committee had no report on prices of dishes for the audit -
orxium and the City Clerk was instructed to obtain same and report.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS.
Moved by Trustee Bryson, seconded by Trustee Work, that *'7ednesday, the
7th day of May, at the hour of 8:00 o'clock P. M. be fixed as the time for
hearing the application of Wagner's Inglewood Express for a Certificate of
Public Convenience and Necessity to operate automobiles and auto trucks.
Carried.
Moved by Trastee Work, seconded by Trustee Ward, that amendment of the
Building Ordinance be laved over for one week, and that the Board meet at
7:30 o'clock 2. 11. on Londay Uay 5th, for the purpose of considering the
changes. Carried.

NES BUSINESS.
Moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Bryson, that the Street
Superintendent be authorized to employ additional help for the purpose of
cleaning weeds from parkings and sidewalks. Carried by the following
vote :Ayes :Trustees Bryson, Smiley, Ward, Work, and Martin.

Absent: None.
The childred of the 8th grade, E1 Segundo Grammar School, having
made verbal application through the City Clerk for permission to use the
Auditorium of the City Hall on the evening of May, 17th, 1919, it was
moved by Trustee Bryson, seconded by Trustee Ward, that permission be
granted and that no charge be made for rental. Carried.
The ?resident of the Board suggested that C. C. Beard, caretaker of
the City Hall be appointed a deputy marshal, pointing out that it would
be desirable to have some one with police authority about the building.
This opinion was shared by the other members of the Board, and the
Marshl was instructed to make the appointment.
The City Clerk was instructed to obtain prices on two ferns or plants
in containers to be places on the sides of the steps at the entrance to
the City Hall.
Moved by Trustee Ward, seconded by Trustee Work, that the quarterly
report of the City Clerk, for the quarter ending March 31st, 1919, be
published in the El Segundo Herald, and that all future quarterly reports
be likewise published until otherwise provided by the Board of Trustees.
Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Smiley, Bryson, Ward,
Work, and Martin.
Noes: None.
Absent: None.
Moved by Trustee ?Pork, seconded by Trustee Smiley, that the meeting
adjourn until Monday, the 5th dap of May, 1919, at the hour of
7 :30 o'clock P. M. Carried.
