An adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City
of E1 Segundo was called to order at 4 :00 o'clock p. m. on the above
date in the Council Chamber of the City Hall, by Sydney R. Martin, Pres-
ident pro tem.
Roll Call.
Trustees present: Bryson, Ward, Work, and Martin.
Trustees absent: None.
A petition signed by 0. W. bawler and one hundred sixty -three others
requesting the appointment of Alfred M. Smiley to fill the vacancy on the
Board of Trustees, was read.
Moved by Trustee Ward, seconded by Trustee Work, that the same be
filed. Carried.
Moved by Trustee Work, seconded by Trustee Ward, that the following
resolution be adopted:
RESOLVED that Alfred M. Smiley be appointed to the office of member
of the Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo, vacated by Trustee
Carl Ernest Rueger, to assume the duties of his said office at 4 :10 p. m.
on Thursday, the 3rd day of April, 1919, upon his subscribing and filing
the required oath of office. Said Trustee shall hold office as provided
in section 854 of Act 2348, General Laws of the Stateof California.
Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Bryson, Work, Ward, and Martin.
Noes: None.
Absent: None.
Trustee Martin was then by ballot unanimously elected President of
the Board of Trustees.
Moved by Trustee Work, seconded by Trustee Ward, that the City Clerk
draft a letter to Mr. Carl Ernest Rueger appreciative of his activities
as President of the Board of Trustees, and expressing the regret of the
Board at his retirement. Carried.
No farther business appearing, it was moved ny Trustee Work, seconded
by Trustee Bryson, that the meeting adjourn. Carried.
