1918 SEP 18 CC MINEl Segundo, Cal., Sept. 18th, 1918. Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo was called to order at 7 :30 o'clock P. M..on the above date in the Coun- cil Chamber of the City Hall by Carl Ernest Rueger, President of the Board. ROLL CALL Trustees present: Bryson, Martin, Ward, and Rueger. Trustees absent: Radney. READING MINUTES PREVIOUS MEETING. The minutes of the meeting of Sept. 18th, were read, and no oerrors or omissions being noted, Trustee Bryson moved their adoption as read. Trustee Ward seconded the motion, which carried. WRITTEN CO 3JUNICATIONS. A letter, from Local Board No. 4, thanking the Trustees for the use of the City Hall asa place of registration on September 12th, 1918,.was read and upon motion by Trustee Ward, seconded by Trustee Bryson, which carried, the same was ordered filed. Moved by Trustee Ward, seconded by Trustee Bryson, that Ordinance No. 44, entitled: "AN ORDINANCE OF THE OITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, REGULAT- ING THE CONDUCT OF PERSONS IN PUBLIC STREETS, ALLEYS, COURTS, PARKS, BUILD- INGS AND OTHER PUBLIC PLACES WITHIN SAID CITY, AID PROHIBITING THE MUTILAT- ION OR DESTRUCTION OF PUBLIC PROPERTY ", which was introduced and read at a regular meeting of the Board of Trustees held on the 11th d.ay of September, 19189 be adopted. The motion carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Bryson, Martin, Ward, and Rueger. Noes: None. Absent: Trustee Radney. The City Attorney reported in the matter of the claim of Wm. D. Walsh, that he had been in communication with Mr. Bodkin, Mr. Walsh's Attorney, and had been informed that he would be willing to accept the City's prop- osition as to settlement, i. e. on a basis of 5% of the total amount ex- pended on the Ballona Ave. and Blain St. improvement, as shown by the re- port of the Auditor, less a deduction of $439.219 if the same were deter- mined to be a correct deduction. PAYING BILLS. NEW BUSINESS. Moved by Trustee Martin, seconded by Trustee Ward, that thin Board re- consider the action taken at the previous meeting regarding rental of the IV The following demands having had the approval of the Committee on Finance and Records, were read: $28.80 D. Co. 22.80 E1 Segundo Water Co. 5.50 Standard Oil Co. 80.41 Total U204 64 Moved by Trustee Ward, seconded by Trustee Martin, that the demands be allowed and warrants for same drawn on the General Fund. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Bryson, Martin, Ward, and Rueger. Noes: None. Absent: Trustee Radney. NEW BUSINESS. Moved by Trustee Martin, seconded by Trustee Ward, that thin Board re- consider the action taken at the previous meeting regarding rental of the IV LffL5 The Board then discussed the matter, after which Trustee Martin moved the adoption of the following resolution: WHESEAS it appears that the Union had been given to understand that if they decided to rent the City Hall by the month, the rental of the first meeting would be included in the first month's rental at the reg- ular monthly rate, BOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the action taken by this Board of Trustees in the said matter under date-of September 11th, 19183, be, and the same is hereby rescinded,.and be it farther RESOLVED, that said Union be and it is hereby permitted the use of said City Hall on Tuesday lights at the regular monthly rental rate, viz. $15.00, beginning September 10th, 1918. Trustee Ward seconded the motion to adopt the foregoing resolution, and the same was unanimously carried. Several persons having made Application to purchase the frame hose house situated.on the alley West of Virginia St., between Grand Avenue and Rally Ave., claiming to have heard that the some was for sale, the Board discussed the-matter-and it was the unanimous opinion that the building should be retained and is not for sale. The concrete posts upon which are to be mounted electric lights at the Redondo Boubevard and El Segundo Avenue, for the purpose of directing traffic to E1 Segundo, having been completed, the Board by general consent, instructed the City Clerk to request the City Engineer to select sites and give levels for their erection.
