1918 MAY 15 CC MINs Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of El Segundo was held on the above date in the City Hall, being called to order at 7 :30 o'clock P. L. by Carl Ernest Rue ger, President of the Board. ROLL CALL. Trustees present: Bryson, Coward, Martin and Rueger. Trustees absent: Ward. READING MINUTES PREVIOUS MEETING. The minutes of the regular meeting of the Board, held on the 8th day of May, were read without error or omission being noted, and upon motion by Trustee Martin, seconded by Trustee Bryson, the same were approved as read. The minutes of the Special meeting held on the 9th day of May, 1918, were read. Ito errors or omissions appearing, Trustee Bryson moved that they be adopted as read. Trustee Martin seconded the motion and the same carried. The minutes of the special meeting held on the 14th day of May, 1918, were read; no errors or omissions being noted. Moved by Trustee Coward, seconded by Trustee Bryson that they be approved. Carried. WRITTEN CONKUNICATIONS. Written Communications were received from the following, and read: C. E. Mahoney, offering to paint the building over the Distillate Storage Tank and Pump far the sum of $6.50. Western Blind and Sash Company, quoting prices on Venetian Blinds for the new City Hall. City Clerk of Los Angeles, in reply to letter from this Board, stating certain steps which had been taken by the Council of Los Angeles regarding completion of the Coast Boulevard over the Hyperion property. City Clerk of the City of Berkeley, Cal., enclosing copy of an ordinauoe recently adopted by that City for the suppression of seditious utterances. Moved by Trustee Coward, seconded by Trustee Martin, that the eommunicat- .- ions be filed. Carried. ORAL C012MICATIONS. .Mr. G. W. Erickson presented a petition signed by himself and others, requesting the Board to take steps to provide for streets opened in the "Acres" in the future, to run in an' Easterly_ and Westerly direction. Moved by Trustee` Martin, seconded by Trustee Bryson, that the communication be filed. Carried. .None. REPORTS OF STANDING C011MITTEES. REPORTS OF SPECIAL CO1,0MITTEES. The City Engineer reported that the Pacific Electric Railway Company had agreed that upon deposit of $190.00 with them, by the City of El Segundo, said deposit to cover their estimate-of their expense in connection with the install - of a- spur track on Arizona Drive near Ballona Avenue, they would permit the City to proceed with the construction of said spur, using the track, frog and other necessary material which the City would be able to borrow from the Standard Oil Company. This appearing to the Board to be the most economical course to pursue, it was moved by Trustee Bryson, seconded by Trustee Martin, that-the following resolution_ be adopted: RESOLVED that a warrant in the sum of $190.00 payable to the order of the Pacific Electric Railway Company be drawn on the Street Improvement Bond Interest and Redemption Fund, 1918,_ that said warrant be paid upon the present- ation thereof, and that the same be delivered to said Pacific Electric Railway Company upon certificate of the City Engineer of the City of El Segundo that satisfactory arrangements have been made with the said corporation for the con- struction and connection of a temporary spur with the tracks of said eorporatio: near the intersection of Ballona Avenue and Arizona Drive. Moved by Trustee Bryson, seconded by Trustee Martin, that C. E. Mahoney be awarded the work of painting the pump house, at a price not to exceed $6.50 as set forth in his proposition. Carried. The matter of shades for the City Hall was referred to the Public T7orks Committee for report at next meeting.. PAYING BILLS. Henderson, as City Marshal, submitted -` in the sum of $250.00, with the Fidelity and Deposit Company of Iuaryland as surety, dated May 13th, 1918, be and the same is hereby approved. Carried. The President of the Board announced that he had been informed that the Honor Flag, denoting that the City of El Segundo had subscribed its gota of the Second Liberty Loan had been received, and was hanging in the window of the El Segundo State Bank.
