1918 JUN 19 CC MINE1 Segundo,.Cal., June 19th, 1918. Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo, was called to order in the City Hall on the above date, at 7:30 o'clock P. L1. by Carl Ernest Rueger, President of the Board. ROLL: CALL. Trustees present: Bryson, Ward,, and Rueger. Trustees absent: Martin and Coward. READING MINUTES PREVIOUS MEETING. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 12th day of June 1918, were read without error or omission being noted and it was moved by Trustee Ward, seconded by Trustee Bryson, that the same be approved as read. Carried. The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting held on the 14th day of June, 191.8, were read without error or omission being noted and it was moved by Trustee Bryson, seconded by Trustee Ward, that the same be approv- ed as read. Carried. Trustee Coward appeared at 7:55 o'clock _`. M.'and took his seat. The 'committee authorized to arrange for the opening of the City Hall on the evening of June 21st, 1918, reported that music, consisting of afour piece orchestra which formerly played at the Hotel Maryland, Pasadena, had been engaged for the evening and that the cost 'of same would not exceed $30.00, also that the serving of refreshments had been turned over to the Red Cross. UNFINI SEED BUSINESS. The City Attorney reported that the papers in connection with the chang- ing of the names of the streets now known as Ballona Avenue, and El Segundo Avenue had not been prepared. By general consent, another week's time was granted. PAYING BILLS. Iafoved by Trustee Bryson, seconded by Trustee Ward, that the City Clerk be authorized to purchase two street signs to prohibit parking on the South side of Franklin Avenue between Concord Street and Richmond Streets at a cost not to exceed $10.00. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Bryson, Coward, Ward, and Rueger. Noes: None. Absent: Trustee Martin. The City Attorney submitted to the Board, three copies of ordinances reg- elating the storage of inflammables, and these were turned over to the City Clerk with instructions for him to refer them to the Fire Chief for his recommendation for a similar ordinance for the City of E1 Segundo. . LIoved by Trustee Ward, seconded by Trustee Coward, that sidewalk be built in front of the City Hall under the supervision of We C. Bryson, at a cost not to exceed $100.00. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Bryson, Coward, Ward, and Rueger. Noes: None. Absent: Trustee Martin. The City Clerk was instructed to obtain prices on shades and furniture for the City Hall. Moved by Trustee Ward, seconded by Trustee Bryson, that the following resolution be adopted: RESOLVID that the office of Street Superintendents Clerk of the City of E1 Segundo be, and the same is hereby created. It shall be the duty of the appointee of said office to perform all clerical work incident and appertaining to the office of Street Superintendent of said City and such other duties as the Board of Trustees of said City may from time to time direct. Said appointee shall hold office during the pleasure of said Board and shall receive as compensation until the further order of said Board, the sum of $25.00 per month as full compensation for all services rendered by said person to said City, said compensation to be paid at the same time, and in the manner other City salaries are paid. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Bryson, Coward, Ward, and Rueger. Noes: None. Absent: Trustee I,Illartin. Yoved by Trustee Coward, seconded by Trustee Ward, that the City Clerk be relieved of the duties of Street Superintendent's Clerk of the City of E1 Segundo beginning July 1st, 1918, provided, however, that no action herein taken shall in any manner affect the present compensation of said Clerk. Trustee Coward introduced Ordinance No.37, entitled : "Aff O_IRDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO DESIGNATING THE CITY HAIL IN AITD FOR SAID CITY, FIXING THE TIME AND PLACE OF REGULAR MEETINGS OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF SAID CITY AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREyITH ", which was read. No further business appearing, it was moved by Trustee Ward, seconded b by Trustee Bryson, that the meeting adjourn until 12:00 o'clock noon on Monday, the 24th day of June, 1918. Carried.
