Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo
was called to order at 7 :80 o"clock P. M. on the above date in the City
Hall by Carl Ernest Rueger, President of the Board.
EOLL CALL.
Trustees present: Martin, Radney, and Rueger.
Trustees absent: Bryson and Ward.
Willard S. Radney having filed his oath of Office as Trustee of the
City of El Segundo, was duly qualified to act as each Trustee.
READING IUJnn 8 PREVIOUS MEETING.
The minutes of the meeting held on the 84th day of duly, 1918, were
read without error or omission being noted, and it was moved by Trustee
Martin, seconded by Trustee Radney, that the same be approved as read.
Carried.
Trustee Ward appeard immediately after the above action and took his
seat, it being the hour of 7:48 p. m.9
MUTTER COMMUNICATIONS.
A communication from the into Club of Southern California, advising
that signs ordered by the City would be ready a nd delivered in aboat two
weeks, was read.
A letter from Perry Vanderrort and others, asking for the improvement
of Lomita Street was read.
Moved by Trustee Ward, seconded by Trustee Martin, that the commonn-
ications be filed. Carried.
E ORAL C0MMUNICATIONS.
C. C. Beard, Janitor,, advised the Board that the Maccabees desired
the use of the Auditorium and the Council chamber all day the 8th of Aug.
Moved by Trustee Ward, seconded by Trustee Martin, that the Maccabees
be granted the use of the Auditorium and Council Chamber on Angust 9th,
1918. Carried.

Moved by Trustee Ward, seconded by Trustee Radney, that the follaring
resolution-be adopted:
WHEREAS it appears that there are insufficient fonds in the CitV Hall
Bond Interest and Redemption Fund, 1918, to meet expenses accruing against
said Farad, amounting to $977.81,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the said am of $977.81 be trans-
ferred from the General Fund of the City of El Segundo to the City Hall
Bond Interest and Redemption Fund, 1918, of said City. Carried by the
following vo to :
Ayes: Martin, Had-nay, Ward, and Raeger.
Noes: None,
Absent: Trustee Bryson.
Moved by Trustee Ward, seconded by Trustee Martin, that the following
resolution be adopted:
WHEREAS it appears to this Board that warrants amounting to #46.50,
drawn on the Los Angeles Trust and Savings Bank, have been paid in error
by the Citizens National Bank, and warrants amounting to 478.85+ dram on
the Citizens National Bank were paid in error b the Los Angeles Tract and
Savings Bank, thereby creating a difference of 187.85 in the balanoes in
both of said banks,

The Marshal announced the appointments of A. Staging and V. W. Robbins

The chair advised that Mr. Black of the Standard Oil Co*pany:bad com-
plained of the condition of the Santa Fe crossing at Ballona Avenue and
Inglewood - Redondo Boulevard, but said that the City Engineer had °told him
that workmen were repairing the Railroad Comp Lmy's tracks in that vicinity,
and he would investigate and advise-the City Clerk if they were going to
repair-the crossing. In the event of negative reply, clerk was - instructed
to write the Santa Fe. --
The Chair stated that the City Engineer advised him that two wagons
which had been borrowed while the Ballona Avenue and Main St. improvement
was in progress, had been damaged, and requested the Street Superintendent
to ascertain the ownership of these wagons, and the extent of the damage
and to report to the Public Works Committee, who would authorise their repair.

The City Attorney that the City of El Segundo might be liable for
damages if person or property were injured by a "Xeep to the Bight "Sign now
loacted at MAn St. and E1 Segundo, owing to a lack of sufficient illuminat-
ion at night, and the Public Works Committee was instructed to suggest a
remedy, as they were abort to order some street repairs at the same corner.
Trustee Martin drew attention to the danger to vehicle traffic at the
Pacific Electric crossing at Ballona Avenue and Arizona Drive, and suggested
that the Pacific Electric By. Co., be requested to have all cars stop at the
crossing each time it In to be passed.- The City Attorney advised that amK
ordinance regulating the matter might be passed, and he would look into the
matter and report.
The Chair stated that the Street Superintendent needed certain. forms
for_ keeping proper records of his work, and suggested that he take the matter
ap with the Public Works Committee.
No farther business appearing, it-was moved by Trastee .Martin, second-
ed by Trustee Ward, that the meeting adjourn. Carried.
