The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 11th day of December, 1918, were read without error or omission being noted, and it was moved by Trustee Bryson, seconded by Trustee Work, that the same be approved as read. Fr�aham of the Southern California _Gas Co., stated to the Board that he had received a copy of the proceedings to be used in advertising a gas franchise for sale in the City of E1 Segundo, and asked the Board to consider, at the proper time, a change in the original wording so that the bond required would be $500.00 instgad of $1000.00. Trustee Bryson introduced and moved the adoption of Resolution No. 16, entitled: "A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO DIRECTING A CERTAIN FRANCHISE TO LAY, CONSTRUCT, MAINTAIN AND OPERATE GAS PIPES AND MAINS IN SAID CITY TO BE ADVERTISED FOR SALE." which was read. Trustee Work seconded the motion, and the resolution w4s adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Bryson, Martin, Mork, and Rueger. Noes: None. Absent: Trustee Ward. PAYING BILLS. Moved by Trustee Martin, seconded by Trustee work, that the Fire Engine Driver be granted one week's leave of absence. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Bryson, Martin, Work, and Rueger. Noes: None. Absent: Trustee Ward. Trustee Bryson, Chairman of the .Public Works Committee announced that he had authorized the purchase of a pole for the grader. Moved by Trustee Work, seconded by Trustee Martin, that the following resolution be adopted: RESOLVED that sealed bids be received by this Board of Trustees for a motor truck, to be furnished the City of E1 Segundo, Califor- nia, in accordance with the following notice; and that the City Clerk be and he is hereby instructed to publish the following notice to bidders, in three successive issues of the El Segundo Herald, before the date set for opening and declaring said bids, to -wit: NOTICE TO BIDDERS ON MOTOR TRUCKS. Notice is hereby given that sealed bids or proposals, will be received by the Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo, California, up to the hour of 8 :00 o'clock p. m., on Wednesday the 8th day of January, 1919, at which said time and in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City all bids will be publicly opened and declared, for furnishing to the said City of E1 Segundo, F. 0. B. El Segundo, one, gasoline motor truck, of not less than one ton capacity and of not less than 20 rated horsepower. The wheel base of said truck shall be not less than 120 inches. The body thereof to be of the combination stake and farm type; driver's seat to have protection from Weather, and the loading space back of the said seat shall be at least 60 by 94 inches.. The front wheels shall be equipped.with pneumatic tires of good quality of sise 30 x 3 inches or thereabouts and the rear wheels with solid rubber tires of good make and of size not less than 32 inches by 3J inches. In this connection, the Board of Trustees whshes it understood that they do not wish a large truck, but a small one with a capacity of about, but not less than, one ton, for use in miscellaneous work for said city. Bids shall be marked "Bid on Motor Truck" and shall be filed with the Cit7 Clerk in his office in the City Hall of said City. Each bid shall be acoom- panied by a certified check for five percent of the amount of the bid, pay- able to the order of the said city and die check of the successful bidder shall be forfeited should said bidder fail to make delivery of the apparatus as stated in his bid and at the price thereof as determined from said bid by said board. The Board of Trustees reserves the right to reject any and all bids; further *kx* the right to consider the relative merits of the vehicle to be furnished and to be the sole judges of the relative merits of the different trucks and vehicles submitted, and will award the contract for furnishing said truck to the loviest regular, responsible bidder for the truck best suit- ed to the needs of said city as determined by said Board. Trustee Bryson introduced Ordinance No. 47, entitled: "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO ESTABLISHING THE GRADE OF A PORTION OF PALTA AVENUE WITHIN SAID CITY AND FIXING AND ESTABLISHING THE CURB LINES THEREON. No further business appearing, it was moved by Trustee Bryson, second- ed by Trustee Martin, that the meeting adjourn. The motion carried, the Board agreeing to meet Thursday the 26th day of December, 1915, Wednesday being Christmas and a legal holiday.
