E1 Segundo, Cal., Sept. 6th, 1917.
An adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City
of E1 Segundowas held on the above date in the City Hall, being called to
order at 7 :30 o'clock P. M. with president Rueger presiding.
ROIL CALL.
Trustees present: Martin, Smiley and Rueger.
Trustees absent: Coward and Ward.
READING MINUTES PREVIOUS KEETING,
The minutes of the meeting held on the 5th day of September, 1917, were
read without error or omission being noted and it was moved by Trustee
Smiley, seconded by Trustee Martin, that they be approved and the motion
carried.
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS.
None.
Trustee Ward appeared at the meeting after the stating of the above
order of business, it being the hour of 8:00 o'clock P. M.
None.
WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS.
Trustee Amiley suggested that the signs, which at the meeting of the
Board held on September 5th, were ordered placed at the ends of the plank
road on Ballona Avenue, instead be placed at follows:
ONE at the wetierly and-of said plank road, and
ONE at the intersection of Ballona and Arizona avenue, - this arrange-
ment serving to notify vehicles that the road is closed before the drive
-from Arizona Avenue up to the plank road, thus saving them the inconvenience
of having to turn around and retracing their IM route.
NEW BUSINESS.
Trustee Coward appeared at the meeting immediately following the
stating of the above order of business, the hour being 8 :30 o'clock P.M.
Trustee Smiley introduced ordinance No. E1, entitled:
'SAN ORDINANCE CALLING AND PROVIDING FOR, AND GIVING NOTICE OF A SPECIAL
ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, ON
MONDAY, OCTOBER FIRST, 1917, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE QUALIFIED
VOTERS OF SAID CITY THREE PROPOSITIONS TO INCUR BONDED DEBTS BY SAID CITY
FOR THE FOLLOWING MUNICIPAL IMPROVEMENTS : -(1) FOR THE ACQUISITION,CbNSTRUCT-
ION AND COMPLETION OF A CITY HALL, AND FIRE STATION, (E) FOR THE ACQUISITION
OF FIRE APPARATUS, AND (3) FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A MACADAM PAVEMENT ON
PORTIONS OF BALLONA AVENUE AND MAIN STREET IN SAID CITY'; which was read.
Moved by Trustee Coward, that the following resolution be adopted:
RESOLVED that unless otherwise hereafter ordered, Election Officers of
an election board serving at a municipal election in the City of E1 Segundo,
shall receive from the city of E1 Segundo the sum of Sit Dollars ($6.00)
as compensation in full for all services rendered by such officer at said
election. The motion was seoonded by Trustee Ward, and adopted by the
following votes
Ayes: Trustees Coward, Martin, Smiley, Ward and Rueger.
Noes: None.
Absent: None.
Moved by Trustee Martin, seconded by Trustee Smiley, that the meeting
adjourn. Carried.
