Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of El Segundo
was called to order at 7 :30 o'clock p. X.
Hall, with president Rueger in the chair. on the above date, in the City
ROLL CALL.
Trustees
present: Coward, Smiley, and'Rueger.
Trustees absent: Martin and Ward.
READING MINUTES PREVIOUS METING.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read; no errors or omissions
being noted, it was moved by Trustee

Reports
The City Attorney reported that he had located the
in the County Auditor's Office, and that if nothing nforseendhapr happened, he2
anticipated payment of the amount in about two weeks. Peened, he

UNFINISHED BUSINESS.
Trustee Smiley moved the adoption of Ordinance No. 19, entitled:
"AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 17 OF
SAID CITY, PASSED ON THE 19th DAY OF JULY, 1917,"which was introduced at a
regular meeting of the Board of Trustees held on the 29th day of August,
1917, and read -at this meeting.
Trustee Martin seconded the motion and the Ordinance was passed by
the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Coward, Martin, Smiley and Rueger.
Noes: None.
Absent: Trustee Ward.

NEW BUSINESS.
Trustee Martin introduced Ordinance No. 20, entitled:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, ESTABLISHING A DATUM PLANE
OR BASE FROM WHICH ALL ELEVATIONS WITHIN SAID CITY ARE TO BE
ESTIMATED. MEASURED OR
Trustee Smiley moved the adoption of the following resolution
was seconded by Trustee Martin: , whichmotion
RESOLVED and determined, by the Board of Trustees of the City of E1
Segundo, that the public interest and necessity demands the acquisition,
construction and completion of a City Hall and Fire Station, in and for
said city, including the furnishing of the same, the cost of which will be
too great to be paid out of the ordinary annual income and revenue of said
.municipality;
AND BE IT ALSO RESOLVED and determined, by the Board of Trustees of
the City of E1 Segundo, that the Public interest and necessity demands
acquisition of Fire apparatus for said city, the cost of which will be too

great to be paid,out of the ordinary annual income and revenue of said
municipality;
AND BE IT ALSO RESOLVP,D.and determined, by the Board of Trustees of the Ci
City of E1 Segundo, that the public interest and necessity demands the
construction of a macadam pavement on Ballona Avenu$ from the easterly
city limits t0the westerly line of Virginia St., and on Main street
from the northerly line of Ballona Avenue to the southerly line of E1
Segundo Avenue, in said city, the cost of which will be too great to be
paid out of the ordinary annual income and revenue of said municipality.
The same was adopted by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Coward, Martin, Smiley and Rueger.
Noes: Bone.
Absent: Trustee Ward.
Moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Martin, that the use of
the plank road on Ballona Avenue is hereby prohibited and the the Marshal
and 3t. Sup't. be instructed to place signs at each end of said plank
road warning the public that its use has been prohibited.
Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Coward, Martin, Smiley and Rueger.
Noes: None.
Absent: Trustee Ward.
Moved by Trustee Smiley, secondedd by Trustee Martin, that the City
Attorney be instructed to confer with the Wells Fargo Express Co. or the
Railroad Commission relative to securing better Express service for this
City. Carried.
