Regular meeting or the Board of Trustees of the Cit, of E1 Segundo
was called to order in the City Hall at -'7:30 o'clock _, on the above
date by Carl Ernest Rueger, _res_ dent of the Board.

The - .inutes of the previous meeting were read without error or orrkiss-
ion being noted and it ryas moved by Trustee ',' ard, the motion being
seconded by Trustee Studley, that the same be ap_croved. Carried.

A letter �e rtaining to road signs as required by the 1,,.otor Vehicle
Act, and quoting prices of sa�Le, was received from the California Car-
., Culvert Co., and upon motion of Trustee Smiley, seconded by
Trustee 17ard, the same was ordered filed.

City Larshal Jackson verbally Dresented his resignation as I.:arshal
to the Board, also the resignation of his Deputy, Floyd Carr, requesting
that they be accepted, said resignations to become effective at 12:00
o'clock r.m. this date.

City Engineer Cory requested to be allowed to complete his work on
Ballona Avenue, before estimating the cost of improving Richmond Street.
The request was readily granted.

'/,"At this point, the Zresident announced that the hour of 8:00 had
arrived, and asked if any one present desired to file bids for the pur-
chase of the I,unicipal Improvement Bonds with the City Clerk.
None responded, whereupon Trustee Ward introduced Resolution No.10
as follows:
"Wla;REAS, the Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo have
heretofm e invited sealed bids for the improvement bonds of the City of
E1 Segundo, California, authorized on October 1st, 1917, and,
WHERLkS, no bids were received for said bonds within the time
for filing bids therefor as fixed by I= said Board,
NO';. TH REFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that sealed bids for the pur-
chas� of improvement bonds of the City of E1 Segundo to the amount of
Fifty Four Thousand Dollars 054,000) be received up to the hour of eight
c'elock p. m. on .ednesday, the 21st day of November, 1917.
Bids shall be addressed to the City Clerk, endorsed" roposal
for the purchase, of bonds,' and each proposal shall be accompanied by
a certified check to the amount of Five Hundred Dollars, conditioned that
the purchaser will take and pay for any and all bonds that may be sold
and awarded to him, or otherwise be forfeited to and become the property
of the City of E1 Segundo; provided, however, that no certified check
shall be required of the State of California..
The City Clerk is hereby directed to publish for one week
a notice of such sale in the "E1 Segundo Herald ", a newspaper of gen-
eral circulation published in said city. Said notice shall give a gen-
eral descri-,,-ticn of the bonds and information that they were authorized
at a slecial election held in said city October lst, 1917, and that five
of said bonds will mature on December lst, of each year thereafter for
a period of twelve years; then six of said bonds on the same day of each
year thereafter for a period- of eight years; that they bear interest at
t he rate of five and one -half per centum per annum, payable semi- annually;
also a statei;":ent that the right to reject any and all bids is reserved
by the Board of Trustees. The City Clerk will send a c6py of said notice
to the State Eoard of Control at Sacramento. ", and moved its adoption.

Trustee Smiley seconded the motion, and the resolution was adopted
by the following vote:

Absent: Trustee - Coward. _
UNFINISHED BUSINESS.
Loved by- Trustee Smiley, the motion being seconded by Trustee
that the resignations of R. 7. Jackson, and Floyd Carr, as I,'arshal and
Deputy L- arrshal respectively, be accepted, same to become effective at
12:00 p.7:., the 31st day of October, 1917. The motion carried.

Smiley moved that the demands be allowed and warrants drawn
for same. Trustee Ward seconded the motion and the same carried by the
following vote:
Ayes: Trustees I:artin, Smiley, Ward and Rueger.
Noes: Trustees None.
Absent: Trustee Coward.
NE11' BUSINESS.
Trustee Smiley introduced and moved the adoption of the following resolution
Resolved, that Lr. Louis V. Green be appointed City L`arshal and
Street Superintendent, to take office upon the filing of a satisfactory
bond in the sum of $500.00, and upon taking and subscribing the ca th of
office."
Trustee Ward seconded the motion and the resolution was ad &pted by the
following vote:

Noes: Trustees None.
