Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo was called to order in `_he City Hall at 7.30 o'clock P.M, -on the above date by Carl Ernest Ruel'er, President of the Board. ROLL CALL. Trustees Present: Coward.SmIley and Rueger. Trustees Absent: Martin and Ward. READING MINUTES PREVIOUS MEETING. The Yinut -_s of the previous meeting were read. No errors or omissions being noted,Trustee Coward moved their adoption, the motion being second- ed by Trustee Smiley and dr!7 carried. Trustee Martin appeared at 7.45 P.M. WRITTEN COM0MICATIONS. From the Goodrich Rubber Co. relative to signs for City, and from R.F. David, Health Officer asking co- operation of public and Board in carrying on work of Health Board. Moved by Trustee Smiley,seeonded by Trus- tee Martib that the letters be filed. .ORAL COL=I CATIONS . None. REPORTS OF STANDING COL=TTEES. NONE. REPORTS OF SPECIAL COL1MITTEES. NONE. UNFINISHE -D BUSINESS. The City Attorney sai here was nothing in the law to permit the Trustees to invest in Liberty Bonds, and the matter was therefore dropped. There was short discussion concerning the letter received from Health Officer R.F. Davis, and Trustee Smiley moved that the matter be re- ferred to the Public Safety Committee,which was seconded by Trustee Martin and carried by the following vote; Ayes: Trustees Coward,Martin, Smiley and Rueger. Noes: None. Absent: Trustee Ward. The City Clerk was instructed to write the Goodrich Rubber co. and ask them to send road signs to the City of E1 Segundo. Trustee "'ard appeared at 8;15 P. M. Trustee Smiley moved the adoption of Ordinance No. 22,entitled; "An ordinance of the City of E1 Segundo, establishing the grade of a portion of Ballona Avenue within said city, and fixing and establishing ES the Northerly ourbline thereon ", which was read, the same having been intro- dated at a regular meeting of the Board of Trustees held on the 17th day of October, 1917. Trustee Martin seconded the motion to adopt this ordinance and the same was passed by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Coward, .artin, Smiley Watd and Rueger. Noes: None. Absent: None. Trustee Smiley moved the adoption of Ordinance X23, which was introduo - at a regular meeting of the 3oard of Trustees held on the 17th day of Oct- ober, 1917, entitled: "AN ORDINa: "CE OF T' CITY OF EL S ;GU;TDO, CALIFOR -1IA, ESTA3LISHING THE G =�ADL OF A PORTION OF LIAIN STREZT WITH= SAID CITY ", and the same was read. Trustee Coward seconded the motion to adopt the ordinance and the same carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Coward, TLartin, Smiley, 'and and Rueger. does: gone. NEW BUSINESS. entitled: Trustee Smiley introduced Resolutiong, "A RESOLUTION OF Try, B0A3D OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA,ADOPTING SPECIFICATIONS NUMBER ONE FOR THE GRADING, SURFACING AND I12ROVING OF STREETS MITHIN SAID CITY "9 and moved its adoption. 1dotion to adopt this resolution was seconded by Trustee "lard and carried by the following vote* - Ayes: Trustee Coward, ?. "artin, Smiley, 7ard and Rueger. Z?oes; None, Absent: None. Trustee Smiley informed the Board that Arizona Drive was in very bad shape, and in as much as one road must be kept open into 1 Segundo suggested that the City purchase a car load of crushed rock. Loved by Trustee Coward that Public Works Committee be authorized to purchase car load of crushed rock and sufficient oil to improve Arizona Drive. Trustee Martin seconded the motion which carried by the following vote: _iyes: Trustees Coward, kartin, Smiley, :lard and Bueger. Noes; None. Absent: None. Trustee :artin asked that the City Engineer be allowed to make estimate of cost of improving Richmond Street from Ballona Ave., to E1 Segundo Ave, and by general consent of the Board, he was requested • to. render the desired report. President Rueger stated that he thought El - Segundo in need of a City :.:arshall Rr1 street Superintendent on the street at all times. The Board concurred in this opinion but deferred action till a later date. ADJOURNMENT. It was moved by Trustee Smiley and seconded by Trustee Ward that the meeting adjourn,and the same carried.
