Ei Segundo, Cal., Ootober 10th, 1917.
Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo
was called to order at 7 :30 o'olook P. M. in the City Hall, on the above
date, president Rueger being in the chair.
ROLL CALL.
Trustees Present: Coward, Martin and Rueger.
Trustees absent: Smiley and Ward.
READING MINUTES PREVIOUS MEETING.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read without error or omiss-
ion being noted and it was moved by Trustee Coward, seconded by Trustee
Martin, that the same be approved. The motion carried.

REPORTS OF SPECIAL COMMITTEES.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS.
The City Attorney reported that he had prepared the disclaimer in
the County Fund oases, as instructed at the former meeting.
PAYING BILLS.
The following demands, having had the approval of the Committee of
Finance and Records, were read:
Herald Publishing Co., Stationery & Supplies $21.40
Grimes- Stassforth Stationery Co. Engineer's Supplies 4.20
Victor D. McCarthy, Postage, P.O.Boa rent, etc. 11.66
It was moved by Trustee Martin, seconded by Trustee Coward, th t the
demands be allowed and warrants drawn for same. The motion carried by
the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Coward, Martin, and Rueger.
Noes: None.
Absent: Trustees Ward and Smiley.
NEW BUSINESS.
President Rueger announced that Mr. Glidden would be at the City
Hall at 7 :30 o'clock p, m. Monday neat, to look over the plans for the
new City Hall and to receive suggestions from those interested.
The City Engineer suggested that provision be made for offioe faoil-
ities for a City Engineer and the chair informed him that it was the
intention to use for that purpose, the room now planned for a library,
after the same has attained proportions warranting a separate building.
Trustee Ward appeard at the meeting at 7 :80 o'clook P. M.
Mr. Robert Peabody responded to the Chair's request to inform the
Board what he had learned concerning the oiling of the sand adjacent to
the Ocean Boulevard, by the County, and stated in part, that the portion
which lies within the limits of the City of El Segundo would not be oiled.
By consent of the Board, the City Engineer was instructed to look over
the situation and make recommendations.
Trustee Martin stated that the Pacific Electric Ry. Co. has been
charging more than five cents for single fares within the limits of this
city, and that he would like to see action taken with a view to having
the matter remedied. It was then moved by Trustee Eoward, the motion
being seconded by Trustee Martin, that the City Attorney write the proper
atthorities relative to securing five cent fare within the limits of the
City of El Segundo.
