An adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held in the
City Hall on the above date, president Rueger being in the chair.
ROLL CALL.
Trustees present: Coward, Martin, Smiley, Ward and Rueger.
Trustees absent: None.
READING MINUTES PREVIOUS MEETING.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read without error or omiss-
ion being noted and it was moved by Trustee Ward, seconded by Trustee
Smiley, that they be adopted. The motion carried.
See footnote No. 1. WRITTEN CO'MuTNICATIONS.
From the U. &. G. Rubber Co., requesting that they be advised when
the city was in the market for hose. Moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded
by Trustee Martin, that the letter be filed and the City Clerk furnish the
writer with the necessary information. Carried.
ORAL COM4UNICATIONS.
,.r. McKnight of the Southern Dalifornia Edison Co. was present and
asked the Board to defer action on the installation of new lights until
after January 1st, as the cost of materials was almost prohibitive.
It was then moved by Trustee Smiley, and seconded by Trustee Coward,
that consideration of the matter of new lights be deferred until after
the first of next year. The motion carried.
REPORTS OF STANDING COLMTTEES .
Trustee Ward of the Pnblic Safety Committee reported that he had
priced cots and bedding for the use of fire wagon driver, and learned that
the necessary furnishings would cost in the neighborhood of X30.00. He had
been giver_ pca•er to act atthe last meeting and the Board decided to leave
the matter to his discretion.

PAYING BILLS.
The Demand of Arthur W. Cory, for engineering services rendered, in
amount $103.50 was duly approved by the Committee of Finance and Records
and read, whereupon it was moved by Trustee Smiley, the motion being
seconded by Trustee Coward, that the demand be allowed and a warrant drown
for same. The motion carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Coward, ;.lartin, Smiley, Ward and Rueger.
Noes: None.
Absent* None..
NEW BUSINESS.
Trustee Martin advised that he had receipted for a package of ladders
which were sent by the American LaFranoe Fire`•x)ngine Company to equip the
Motor Fire Wagon.
Trustee Martin stated that in view of the efficient work done by the
City Attorney, and owing to the increase of amount of such work, he be-
lieved the Attorney should receive a larger salary. Trustee Coward stated
that he understood the present salary was only a temporary arrangement,
and moved the adoption of the following resolution:
"Resolved that the Salary of the City Attorney of the City of E1
Segundo, California, be and the same is hereby increased to the sum of
""50.00 per month, from and after the first day of November, 1917 ".
Trustee Martin seconded the motion to adopt the foregoing resolution
and the same was passed by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Coward, Martin, Smiley, Ward and Rueger.
Noes: None.
Absent: None.

order at 7:30 o'clock P. M. by President Rueger.

SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS.
' The canvassing of the returns of the election held on October let,
being a special order of business, Trustee Coward introduced and moved the
adoption of Resolution No. 6, being a resolution canvassing the returns
and declaring the result of the election held on the lot day of October,
1917, in the City of E1 Segundo, California. Trustee Smiley seconded the
motion to adopt the said resolution, which was passed by the following
vote:
Ayes: Trustees Coward, Martin, Smiley, Ward and Rueger.
Noes: None.
Absent: None. -W
