Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of El Segundo was called to order in the City Hall at 7:40 o'clock P. :.:. on the above date by President pro tem Martin. ROLL CALM. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and upon motion of Trustee Smiley seconded by Trustee ;lard, which carried, they were ordered approved, by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Coward, ':lard, Smiley and i1artin. For the Public Safety Committee, Trustee Coward reported that two contractors had been instructed to furnish bids for the construction of the dog pound. Inasmuch as they had not been filed with the Clerk, action was deferred. For the Finance and Records Committee, Trustee Smiley reported that the delay in repairing the transom over the City Hall door was occasioned through the fact that a new transom, ordered in Los Angeles had not been received, and that when the same came to hand, the work would proceed. Davis. ;u. L. Chappell. 1. C. Bryson. R. Kemper. Dr. F. S. Haggart . The motion carried. Trustee Smiley introduced Ordinance U0. 15, entitled: AN ORDI." CE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUE ?DO R ^rUL.4TIT?G ice'', KEEPING OF RUBBISH, "CASTE PAPER ADD .`IAST E AND REJECTED i.ATTER WITHIN SAID CITY, AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR ABABDONING SUCH 1ATTER, RUBBISH, WASTE OR WASTE PAPER UPON ANTY PUBLIC STREET OR PLACE WITHIN SAID CITY. PAYING BILLS. Moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee ':card, that the demand of the Southern California Safe Co., as approved by the Finance and Records Committee, in the sum of $165.00, be paid and a warrant drawn for same. The motion carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Coward, Smiley, "lard and ;aartin. Woes: None. Absent: Truatee Rueger. NEW BUSINESS. Moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Coward, that the City Department for the City of El Segundo; carried. Moved by Trustee Coward, seconded by Trustee Ward, that the City Clerk be instructed to communicate with the Southern California Edison Company regarding a.connection for the motor-&t the pump house of the E1 Segundo Land and Improvement Co. Carried. Loved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Coward, that the City Clerk be instructed to communicate with the various Fire Extinguisher Companies to secure prices of equipment. Carried. Moved By Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Ward, that the Public Safety Committee be instructed to have a floor built in the Hose House, to repair hose and other equipment needing it and to see that the same be placed in good condition so as to be serviceable if needed. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees 'Coward, Smiley, Ward and Martin. Noes: None. Absent: Trustee Rueger. Moved_by Trustee Coward, seconded by Trustee Smiley, that a vote of thanks be extended the Standard Oil Company, for the services rendered the city in fighting the recent fires and repairing hose, and that the City Clerk be instructed to communicate the same to the said company. Carried. Loved by Trustee Coward, seconded by Trustee Smiley, that the City Attorney be instructed to draft a Building Ordinance. Carried. Trustee Smiley introduced Resolution No. 2, entitled: A RESOLUTI017 OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF EL SEGUNDO , CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE Or THE HOLDING OF A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION IN SAID CITY, TO BE HELD ON MONDAY, THE 30TH DAY OF APRIL, 1917, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTI_+G TO THE ELECTORS OF SAID CITY AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO PROHIBITING THE SEEPING OF POOL AND BILLIARD TABLES FOR HIRE IN SAID CITY, and moved its adoption. Trustee Coward seconded the motion and the resolution was adopted by the following vote; Ayes: Trustees Coward, Smiley, Ward, and Martin. Noes: None. Absent: Trustee Rueger.
