Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo
was called to order at 7 :34 P.L. on the above date, in the Council Chamber
in the E1 Segundo Hotel Building, President Rueger inthe chair.

Trustees present: Coward, kartin, Smiley, Ward and Rueger.
Trustees absent: None.
READING LZNUTES PREVIOUS I�''E TING .
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and no errors or
omissions being noted, a motion by Trustee Kartin seconded by Trustee Ward
that the minutes be approved as read, was duly carried.
WRITTEN COILIMI CATIONS.
From the County Surveyor, accompanied by a Liap of Tract No. 3184,
submitted for the approval of the Board of Trustees. The same was read
and the map submitted to the Board. After duly examining the same, Trus-
tee Liartin 1uartin introduced the following resolution and moved its adopt-
ion:
Whereas a certain map of Tract No. 3184 in the County of Los Angeles,
State of California, has been submitted to this Board for approval, and
Whereas this Board has examined said map (there being no City Engin-
eer or City Planning Commission for the City of El Segundo) and
77hereas it appears that the said map is satisfactory in all partio-
ulars to this Board,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVES that the said map of
3184, be, and the same is hereby approved by this Board,

From the County Auditor, advising that from and after January let,
1917, The County will distribute to the several municipalities for which _

From the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce asking for cooperation
of this body in working against Flood Control:3onds. Same was ordered filed.
None received.
ORAL COiZIUNI CATIONS.
SPECIAL COIZZITTEES .
Idoti &n by Trustee Coward seconded by Trustee Ward, that the commit-
tee appointed at the meeting of January 22nd, 1917, for the purpose of
arranging with the El Segundo State Bank for a loan, Which committee con-
sisted of Trustees Lartin and Smiley, be discharged with thanks. The motion
carried.
Trustee Lartin reported that he had interviewed both doctors Jaynes
and Havgart and both refused to serve as Health Officer.

shal be instructed to look after nuisances relative to health, pending the _

Jith regard to furniture forthe City Hall and Office Equipment,
Trustee Smiley reported that the prices he secured on a safe cabinet were
practically the sane as those submitted by the City Clerk at the previous
meeting.

As to the chairs for the Council Chamber, he stated that he wished to
further investigate prices and that he would report further at the next
meeting. Trustee 1.1artin stated that he was unable to accompany Trustee
Smiley when he went to Los Angeles for the above purpose, but that he
would be able to give the matter attention during the coming week.
The City Attorney informed the Board that he had been informed
that X2458.23, would be the amount of refund to tthe City and that he
was going to work immediately to secure an initial payment of $1000.00
on account.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS.
Trustee Coward moved the adoption of Ordinance No. 4, entitled:
"AZ ORDINANCE OF I KE CIT OF EL SEGUNDO REGULATING TEL FRES�ITIPdG,
AUDITING AND PAYIL rNT OF DET.' DS AGAINST THE SAID CITY", which ordinance
was introduced and read at the regular meeting of the Board of Trustees
held on the 31st day of January, 1917. Trustee Smiley seconded the mot-
ion and the ordinance was adopted by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Coward, iartin, Smiley, Ward and Rueger.
Noes: None.
Absent: None.
PAYING BILLS.

The same were approved by the Committee of Finance and Records
whereupon Trustee Smiley moved that the bills as read be paid and .
warrants drawn for same. Trustee Ward seconded the motion, which car-
ried by the following vote:
Ayes: Coward, Martin, Smiley, Ward and Rueger.
Noes: None.
Absent: None.
NEW BUSINESS.
Trustee Martin stated that 1drs. J. A. Davis had requested use of
the City Hall for election purposes February 20th, 1917. It was moved
by Trustee Coward, seconded by Trustee Ward that the request be granted,
the motion carried.
Trustee Smiley introduced Ordinance No. 5, entitled:
ALT ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO FIXING THE SALARY
OF THE CLERK, TREASURER, IWARSHAL, AND RECORDER OF SAID CITY, and the same
was read forthe first time.
There being no further business, it was moved by Trustee Smiley
anu seconded by Trustee Coward that the meeting adjourn until Wednesday
February 14th, 1917, at 7:30 o'clock P. MI. at the same place.
