M',,p .. :lttorney reported that on December 20th, he wrote Lr.
relative to the action he conte:-n!--fated tar.ing,on behalf of
nearby towns, for the abaterert of the Lyperion nuisance, and request -
ed t'r.at gertlenan to advise hire. Up to the time of report, no reply
had beer received.
Trustee ;lard appeared during the rendition of the above report,
the hour bein- 7 :40 o'clock p. r:., and took his seat.
The City Clerk reported that he had investigated the condition
of the Lewis fanily and found that rumors concerning their lack of
clot'r_irg and immediate necessities were unfounded. lure. lewis told
the Clerk that they were indeed poor, but had plenty to eat, and
enough clothing and bedding. She added however, that additional
bedding would be needed soon as the nature of I.r. Lewis illness re-
quired that much of it be burned after use.

December, 1917. Trustee Lartin seconded the motion, and the ordinance
was passed by the following vote:

I,:oved by Trustee 3niley, seconded by Trustee �dard, that the foll-
owing resolution be adopted:
W=,,RLA'S, the Board of Trustees of the City of El Segundo,
pursuant to resolution on the 5th day of December, 1917, directing the
sale of '54,000.00 par value of the improvement bonds of said city, did,
upon said day, and immediately after the passage of said resolution,
receive bids for said bonds, and,
WFIER_:tiS, at said time Blyth, 'litter & Co. madea bid of par and
accrued interest, plus a premium of :'600.00 for said bonds, which said
bid was accompanied by a certified check for X500.00 as required in the
resolution offering said bonds for sale, and,
MER AS, the Board of Trustees, in open public session, at their
regular meeting upon said date, did determine that the bid of said Blyth,
'litter & Co., was the highest and best bid for said bonds, and,
;7ri3R_1.A3, the said Board did, upon said date, adopt a resolution
as follows, to -wit:
"Resolved, that the bid of Blyth, Witter e. Co. for the
purchase of the City of 1 Segundo municipal improvement bonds atthe
amount of n54,000.00, bearing interest at the rate of six per cent per
annum, whereby said Blyth, 'litter & Co., Bid par and accruing interest to
the date of delivery of said bonds, and a premium of $600.00 in addition
thereto, said bid being the highest and best bid received for the said
improvement bonds as determined by this 3oard, be and the same is hereby
accepted, subject to the conditions contained in said bid and the pro-
visions of the resolution under which the same was submitted, and that all
other bids for said bonds be and the same are hereby rejected and the
City Clerk pro ter, is hereby instructed to return the certified checks
deposited by unsuccessful bidders."
rOW '2HERFFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, thatthe action of amt this Board
Of Trustees taker. as above referred to on said 5th day of December, 1917,
as appears in the minutes of the proceedings of said Board of said date,
be and the same is hereby approved, ratified and confirmed in all respects,
and
3E IT FURTHER ^ESOLVED, that said bonds be and the same are here-
by in conformity with the foregoing action of this Board sold and awarded
to said Blyth, 7itter & Co., at the price named in their bid, as deter-
mined by this Board, to -wit: par and accruing interest to date of del-
ivery and a premium in addition thereto of $600.00 for the 154,000.00
par value improvement bonds of the City of El Segundo authorized at the
special election held in said city on the let day of October, 1917.

-toads hachinery Co., the Austin-Western Road Iiachinery Company and the
T. Young Lachinery Co. be allowed an extension of time to and in-
clusive of the 3rd day of January, 1918, to deliver to the City of El
Segundo, the machinery and equipment to be furnished said city by the
respective companies, as per awards of said Board of Trustees made by
resolution oii the 12th day of December, 1 0,17.
This motion carried by the following vote:
