Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo
was called to order at 7 :30 o'clock P. M. on the above date in the City
Hall, president Rueger presid9mg.
ROLL CALL.
Trustees present: Coward, Smiley and Rueger.
Trustees absent: Martin and Ward.
READING MINUTES PREVIOUS MEETING.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read; no errors of
omissions appearing, it was moved by Trustee Coward, seconded by
Trustee Smiley, that the same be approved and the motion oarried.

NEW BUSINESS.
Trustee Smiley introduced Ordinance No. 19, entitled:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BBL SEGUNDO REPEATING
ORDINANCE NO. 17 of SAID CITY, PASSED ON THE IM DAY OF JULY, 19170
Trustee Martin appeared at the meeting at 7 :45 o'clock P. M.
City Engineer Cory,having the plans which had been loaned by the.
Board of County Supervisors., explained various details to the Board of
Trustees, informing them that it,will cost approximately 80 per cent
more to build the road now, than when the County estimated the work,
their total estimate being #80,838.40.
Additional surveys and some supplies for the Engineer being
necessary, Trustee Coward moved the adoption of the following resolution.
RESOLVED that the City Engineer be, and he is hereby.instructed to
make the necessary survey for the improvement of Ballona Avenue from
Main Street to the Westerly line of Virginia Street, and prepare all
data necessary for the improvement of said Ballona Avenue from the East-
erly City Limits to said Westerly line of Virginia Street, and that,he
be allowed such assistance and incur such expense as may be necessary in
the premises.
Trustee Smiley seconded the motion and the resolution was adopted
by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Coward, Martin, Smiley and Rueger.
Noes: None.
Absent: Trustee Ward.
The City Attorney reported that he had secured associate counsel
for the sum of $850.00, said counsel guaranteeing the validity of the
proposed Bond proceedings. He reported also, that investigation reveal-
ed the fact that $5066.00 is still due the City out of the Road tax Fund.
Moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Coward, that the
meeting adjourn. Carried.
