M. on the above date,-with president Rueger in -the chair. ROLL CATS. Trustees present: Coward, Martin, Ward and Rueger., Trustees absent: Z� Smiley. READING MINUTES PREVIOUS MEETING. Minutes of the regular meeting held August 88, were read, no errors or omissions appearing, Trustee Ward moved that the same be adopted. The motion was seconded by trustee Martin, and duly carried. None. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS. WRITTEN COM1JUNICATIONS. From the State Compensation Insurance Fund, mium on Compensation Insurance Policy be paid before covering note issued by the Southern Department. Moved by Trustee Martin,seoonded by Trustee communication be filed. Carried. None. None. None. REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES. REPORTS OF SPECIAL COMMITTEES. UNFINISHED BUSINESS. PAYING BILLS. asking that Pre. expiration of the Coward, that the Moved by Trustee Coward, seconded by Trustee Ward, that the Demand of the-State Compensation Insurance Fund, in the sum of #74.89, the same having been approved by the Committee of Finance and Records, be allowed and warrant dran for same. Motion carried by the following vote: %yes: Trustees, Coward, Martin, Ward and Rueger. Noes: None. Absent: Trustee Smiley. NEW BUSINESS. Trustee Coward, seconded by Trustee Ward, moved the adoption of Resolution No. 4, entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, FIXING THE RATE OF TAXES FOR SAID CITY SUFFICIENT TO RUSE THE AMOUNT OF MONEY FIXED BY THE SAID BOARD IN ORDINANCE NO. 18 THEREOF, PASSED ON THE NlND DAY OF AUGUST, 1917. AND THE EXPENSE OF COLLECTING SAID AMOUNT, THE SAID RATE HEREIN FIXED BEING THE RATE OF TAXES IN SAID CITY FOR THE CURRENT YEAR 19171918. The same was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Coward, Martin, Ward and Rueger. Noes: None. Absent: Trustee Smiley. Trustee Coward introduced the following Resolution, which was seconded by Trustee Ward: Resolved that A. W. Cory be appointed City Engineer, at a salary not to exceed $6.00 per day, services to be performed as required and with the understanding that the appointee furnish all necessary instruments. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Coward, Martin, Ward and Rueger. Noes: None. Absent: Trustee Smiley. Trustee Smiley appeared at the meeting at 8:05 o'clock P. M.
