1917 APR 25 CC MIN9-1 ,l Segundo, Cal., April 25th, 1917. Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of El Segundo was called to order at 7;45 2. 7W. on the above date in the City Hall, by the City Clerk, on account of the absence of the President. It was moved by Trustee Smiley and seconded by Trustee Coward, that Trustee Martin serve as President pro tem, and the motion carried. ROLL CALL. Trustees Present: Coward, Martin and Smiley. Trustees absent: Ward and Rueger. READING !dINUTES PREVIOUS 1. =TING . The minutes of the previous meeting were read without error or omiss- ion being noted and upon motion of Trustee Coward, seconded by '2rustee Smiley, they were approved. t RITTEN. COLILIT III CATIONS. From W. D. Hamman, seeking to install a system of accounting for the city. ORAL COLLiUNICITIOnIS. Health Officer Davis recommended that the city authorize some man to collect garbage once weekly throughout the city and stated that the service could be obtained for $25.00. He also presented a form he desired to have printed on postal cards for the purpose of enabling doctors and others upon whom the duty may fall, to notify the Health Board of the existance of communicable diseases of which they obtail knowledge. He also requested to be permitted to have published in the El Segundo Herald, a digest of the State Laws whcch require persons to report these diseases. Trustee Smiley suggested that a better plan would be to have the same printed in the form of circulars and distributed throughout the city. This being acceptable, it was moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Coward, that the Board of Health be empowered to have hand bills printed, as above outlined, at a cost not to exceed $5.00 for printing and circulation. The motion carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Coward, Smiley and 1.1artin. Noes: None. Absent: Trustees Ward and Rueger. Moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Coward, that the action of the Board of Health in regard to the garbage question be approved. The motion carried. Moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Coward, that the Board of Health be empowered to procure the postal cards necessary for the reporting of communicable diseases at a cost not to exceed "5.00 Carried by the follow- ing vote: Ayes: Trustees Coward, Smiley and 1:artin. Noes: None. Absent: Trustees Ward and Rueger. 1:arshal Jackson requested the Board to allow Deputy ;1arshal Carr some compensation for his services collecting licenses, but no action was taken.
