CA 90245 The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, with certain statutory exceptions, can only take action upon properly posted and listed agenda items. Unless otherwise noted in the Agenda, the public can only comment on City -related business that is within the subject matter jurisdiction of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. Community -at -Large Subcommittee Report to City Council Recommendation: Approve report to be presented to City Council on at the regular City Council meeting on December 7, 2021 2. United Against Hate Week Activities Recommendation: Approve proposed United Against Hate Week activities. 3. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 4:1 1 p.m. and roll call was conducted by Shad McFadden. B. ROLL CALL Committee Members Present: Lauren Abercrombie, Shad McFadden, Avery Smith, Christina Vazquez -Fajardo, Christibelle Villena, Steven Wood Absent: Kenneth Chancey City Staff Present: Joaquin, Assistant City Attorney -Virtual Jimmy Pete, City of El Segundo DEI Consultant Monse Palacios, Senior Administrative Analyst Cristina Reveles, Economic Development Coordinator Barbara Voss, Deputy City Manager C. PUBLIC COMMUNICATIONS Monse Palacios, Senior Administrative Analyst read public comments. D. APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES Motion: to approve the Wednesday, September 8, 2021 meeting was made by Member Villena and Seconded by Member Smith. Motion carried 6-0 E. UNFINISHED BUSINESS 1. Group Agreements Committee discussed the group agreements Motion to approve the group agreements was made by Chairperson McFadden second by member Vasquez. Motion carried 6-0 Motion to add the discussion of bylaws to the next regular meeting agenda was made by member Avery second by member Abercrombie. Motion carried 5-0 F. NEW BUSINESS- 1. Festival of Holidays Event Sam Lee, Cultural Arts Coordinator on behalf of the Arts and Cultural Committee asked for the committee's support and help to advertise the Festival of Holiday. The event will celebrate the diverse holidays. The purpose of the initiative is to be inclusive and honor the cultures. The event will be held Friday, December 15t 3:OOpm-8:OOpm. 2. Response to Community Feedback & Statement Regarding Transgender Athletes Committee discussed response statement. Motion to approve the statement as written was made by Chairperson McFadden second by member Abercrombie. Motion carried 5-1 3. DEI Committee's Role in Responding to Community Feedback Committee discussed their role in responding to community feedback. G. REPORT OF SUBCOMMITTEE Motion to add the Community at Large report to City Council to the next regular meeting agenda was made by member Avery second by member Abercrombie. Motion carried 5-0 1. Public Safety Would like to meet with the new Fire Chief. Continue to work closely with the Police Department. Will report to City Council on November 2nd. 2. Citywide Organization Met with Amanda from Human Resources. Working on a DEI statement. Waiting on the survey company to come on board with the city. Report to City Council on November 2nd. 3. Local Economy The panel with SMC and Aerospace was a success. A total of 425 people attended the Zoom call. Report to City Council on December 71". 4. Community At Large Discussing ideas of a panel or report of the history of the city. Continue to work on the survey. Report to City Council on December 7'". H.
