Unless otherwise noted in the Agenda, the public can only comment on City -related business that is within the subject matter jurisdiction of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. Members of the Public may also provide comments electronically by sending an email to the following address, with a limit of 150 words and accepted up until 30 minutes prior to the meeting: mpalacios@elsegundo.org in the subject line please state the meeting date and item number. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 4:04 p.m. and roll call was conducted by Shad McFadden. B. ROLL CALL Committee Members Present: Lauren Abercrombie, Shad McFadden, Avery Smith, Christina Vazquez -Fajardo, Christibelle Villena, Kenneth Chancey, Steven Wood Absent: Kelsey Chittick City Staff Present: David King, Assistant City Attorney Jimmy Pete, City of El Segundo DEI Consultant Monse Palacios, Senior Administrative Analyst Cristina Reveles, Economic Development Coordinator Portland Bates, Management Analyst Barbara Voss, Deputy City Manager C. PUBLIC COMMUNICATIONS Monse Palacios, Senior Administrative Analyst read a public comment from David Holop Motion to discuss religious holiday observance in El Segundo in the next regular scheduled meeting was made by member Smith and second by member Chancey. Motion carried 7-0 D. APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES Motion: to approve the Wednesday, August 11, 2021 meeting was made by Member Villena and Seconded by Member Chancey. Motion carried 7-0 E. UNFINISHED BUSINESS 1. DEI Webpage Content Next Steps, Addition or Changes Committee discussed content. 2. DEI Committee Retreat Report Jimmy Pete, Consultant discussed overview and goals. Motion to discuss and vote on a final group protocol in the next regular scheduled meeting was made by member Abercrombie and second by member Vasquez. Motion carried 7-0 F. NEW BUSINESS- None G. REPORT OF SUBCOMMITTEE 1. Public Safety Working on a presentation to update City Council. 2. Citywide Organization HR Manager Hired w/ DEI background, Employee Handbook is being reviewed by the committee. HR Manager to review and provide input on the DEI policy prior to submitting to City Council. 3. Local Economy Planning next panel. Working on potential mentorship programs. 4. Community At Large Inquired regarding the member vacancy. Working on the historical panel and survey. H. PRESENTATION 1. Christibelle Villena Presentation on Asian Americans Christibelle presented to the committee. I. ADJOURNMENT Meeting was adjourned at 5:36pm
