Good Morning, Mayor and Councilmembers,
I would like to introduce our new Cultural Arts Coordinator, Randy Niessen.
Randy Niessen is a visual artist and arts manager from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Since earning
his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Alberta University of the Arts, he has exhibited his work in
solo and group shows across Canada and the US including Contemporary Calgary, Untitled Art
Society, TRUCK Contemporary Art Gallery, Nuit Blanche Montreal, and most recently at the
Greater Los Angeles MFA Exhibition in Long Beach, CA. Randy has made significant cultural
contributions throughout his career, serving as Programming Coordinator at TRUCK
Contemporary Art Gallery overseeing exhibitions and public programs, serving as a board
member for the M:ST Performative Arts Festival, and as a Public Art Coordinator for The City of
Calgary where he was involved in the creation and implementation of award -winning initiatives
such as WATERSHED+, the Manhole Cover Design Project, and the Calgary Chinatown Artist
Residency.
Randy moved to Southern California in 2021 to pursue graduate studies where he earned his
MA in Arts Management and MFA in Studio Art at Claremont Graduate University.
Randy's office will be at the El Segundo Public Library.
