Benoit Award for Innovative Clean Air Technology • Leadership in Air Quality • Youth Leadership in Air Quality Date: Friday, April 5, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. Registration for virtual event is required by Thursday, April 4, 2024 at htt s: bit.l 3wH U2Y, For more information, please call 909-396-2432 or by email at CleanAirAwards@aqmd.govor visit our website Rule 1118 The South Coast AQMD Governing Board has set a public hearing for April 5, 2024, to amend Rule 1118 - Control of Emissions from Refinery Flares. if amended, Rule 1118 will reduce emissions from refinery flares by lowering the S02 performance target for general service flares, establish a new NOx performance target for hydrogen production plants, and establish a throughput threshold for clean service flares. PAR 1118 will also increase mitigation fees and fulfill AB 617 CERP air quality commitment priorities related to refinery flaring. Virtual Earth Da A E 19th South Coast AQMD is excited to host a Virtual Earth Day on Friday, April 191h, with programming specially designed for elementary and high school students as part of our educational initiatives, Why Healthy Air Matters (WHAM) and our Clean Air Program for Elementary Students (CAPES). The event will kick off at 10 a.m. for high school students, and 12 p.m. for younger students. Registration is required. Grant Funding for Charging Infrastructure California Energy Commission (CEC) is now taking applications for grant funding for Charging Infrastructure for Government Fleets under their Clean Transportation PEg ram. Up to $30 million is available for projects that will provide electric vehicle charging infrastructure for light -duty government fleets. The purpose of these funds is to support electrification of government fleets, local government goals of sustainability and/or climate action plans and reduce vehicle emissions in disadvantaged and/or low-income communities.
