Subject: Re: Campus El Segundo Issues- still occurring
To all,
First day of spring soccer and the city had no staff here from 6-7 and there was of course
a group of adults kicking in the middle of the under 10 girls practice. They didn't leave
willingly until multiple ayso coaches approached them with very firm instructions to leave. I
saw a girl hit with a powerful ball and although no one seems to be injured I continue to
believe the lack of oversight by the city makes an injury or worse an inevitability. I do not
believe the volunteer ayso staff should need to defend the practice space, the city really
needs to step up in a big way.

Good evening council members,
I am reaching out to share my concerns with you regarding the cities management of
campus el segundo. The lack of control over visitors and field use has created a scenario
where ever larger groups of unauthorized users are showing up and disrupting the activities
of the teams that are authorized to use the fields. My young children are in ayso and during
many practices the coaches are having to push out groups of up to 12 teens and adults who
are walking into the facility and using the spaces reserved for the teams. These groups are
only growing in size over time as they realize that the city does not enforce any rules at the
facility. This also resulted in a homeless man interrupting my sons soccer game this fall. If
the city continues to take a laissez-fair approach to its facilities these issues will continue to
grow and put residents and children at risk. My ask is that the city take these recent issues
serious and review/enhance both existing policies and enforcement of any policies before a
serious incident occurs. Thanks for your time.
