February 20, 2024 TO: FIRE CHIEF GEORGE AVERY EL SEGUNDO FIRE DEPARTMENT FROM: SECTION CHIEF DANIELLE MCMILLON MDJ PRESIDENT MATT MCMILLON SUBJECT: LETTER OF APPRECIATION Chief Avery, I am writing this letterto express our deepest appreciation and gratitude forthe outstanding service and dedication that the members of the El Segundo Fire Department showed on February 9, 2024. My husband and I were away on a vacation when we got a call that our storage warehouse on -Lomita Street was on fire. The fire started quickly and spread so rapidly that by the time we received the notification and sent a friend to check on the warehouse it was completely involved. The professionalism, bravery and quick response of the El Segundo Fire Department employees was exemplified on this very dynamic fire. The Fire Department's prompt arrival, coordinated response with assisting agencies and skillful execution in extinguishing the fire prevented further damage to adjacent exposures and ensured the safety of our community. This has been a devastating experience for my husband and I, but we find comfort in living in a community that has the support of the El Segundo Fire Department. Although ourwarehouse is a total loss, we know thatwe only lostthings. The Fire Department personnel have shown us so much empathy and kindness in one of our lowesttimes. Through my work as a Lifeguard Section Chief for Los Angeles County Fire Department I have already experienced the dedication to excellence your employees have shown. I would like to extend my appreciation to the entire department, including the Fire Fighters, Paramedics, dispatchers and support staff. Each member pays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the department and the overall safety of our commu n ity. Once again, thank you for your exceptional service and selfless commitment to saving lives and property. Please convey our appreciation to all the members of the El Segundo Fire Department. Your relentless efforts and commitment to serving others are deeply appreciated Dan and Matt McMillon
