Subject: Some suggestions
While I am sitting and trying to recover from Christmas, I wanted to jot down some things
and a suggestion regarding the many utilities we use in town. I am sure I am not the only
one whose bills seem to get higher each month and maybe this is a useful
suggestion. When I get an enormous electric or water bill, I often try to call the utility to get
info on how to reduce these costs.
Hold times, transfers and general frustration seem to get in the way of trying to get an
answer. I do not know how to read the meters, check usage and try and find out how to
lower these costs.
Maybe the city could consider having a small utility fair in front of the PD and City Hall and
invite these companies to come and explain rising costs and what we can do to reduce the
problems in our homes.
AT&T and other phone providers, SCE, Gas Co, EDCO, Spectrum (and other cable
providers), as well as City depts, water, road repair, sidewalk hazards, tree trimming to be
able to read St. signs, curb markings including house Ws, and also bike safety and
rules(electric and pedal) - there are numerous infractions seen daily (by adults and kids).
Maybe citizens can get notices through the Parents network, community network or fliers in
Mailboxes in advance and submit questions ahead of time for the companies to review and
then at a fair/forum.
Its an idea so that getting answers is not individual but collective on so many utilities, and
saves calls to all these companies. Maybe since planning for 2024 is underway, this may be
added into an existing downtown event or a separate one can be schedule?
Just an idea, since I doubt I am the not the only one who would like suggestions on these
topics.
Thank for reviewing.
