Good Morning Dr. Moore and Miss Pirsztuk,
I appreciate your responses and wanted to acknowledge them. I will thoughtfully respond (as
indicated below) regarding the changes in High School summer school process/protocol post
Summer of 2022 and the changes where Geometry was offered at ESHS/ESUSD by which I am
sure was not secured by a fee to enroll? correct me if I am wrong.
I did not mention any programs offered by Ed! Academy for the elementary and middle school
levels as clearly these enrichment programs can be interpreted as Summer Enrichment, Summer
Camps, and Summer Opportunities thar are not manifested on a report card of a public school
student, and does not entail such a close armlength's transaction by ESUSD and ED! Executive
Board.
Sincerely,
Daniel Slack Jr.

Good morning Mr. Slack,
The question you pose is specific to the El Segundo Ed! Foundation and best answered
by Ed! personnel. The summer school program in Summer of 2022 and prior years was
an Ed! Program. They can fully share the steps they have taken to have their summer
school program fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges
(WASC).
It is important to note beginning in Summer of 2023, the only high school Summer
School class offering was Geometry and that was offered by ESHS/ESUSD. ESHS
students could consider enrollment in Summer School opportunities outside of the
ESUSD using our established ESHS process/protocol which requires prior approval.
High school administration could provide you with that information. In Summer of 2023,
the Ed! Academy only offered opportunities for enrichment at the elementary and middle
school levels only for a fee. This change in practice was mutually agreed upon by the
ESUSD Board and Ed! Executive Board.
Take care,
Melissa Moore, Ed.D.
