Subject: Follow up (Hyperion)
Hello all,
I am writing to learn if there is any new information regarding Hyperion. I believe that last we
communicated, Mr. George was planning on meeting with the Public Works Director to assess the
direction of action the City might take. I am still calling AQMD daily, sometimes multiple times per day,
because the odor and unknown chemicals have been so bad. In fact, AQMD issued a NOV to Hyperion
as recently as yesterday, 8/22/22. My kids are sick daily when home or at school (all physical symptoms
disappear when we leave El Segundo) and the physical ailments and constant stress are wreaking havoc
on myself and husband. I have called Hyperion directly only to be told that "no one else is complaining"
and that their equipment is fine and they do not detect any odor. Meanwhile, my family is getting
poisoned in our home and every aspect of our daily lives is negatively impacted.
Thanks again for your attention on this pressing issue.
Sincerely,
Erin Falati

Subject: Hyperion
Hello all,
I wanted to see if there were any developments following the meeting that Mr. George had last week
with the public works director and director of sanitation regarding Hyperion? I also wanted to encourage
communication with our entire community with any Hyperion updates, such as a community meeting or
newsletter/email so that we can all be more informed and on the same page.
As I'm sure you are aware, the daily odor and health effects have been relentless. While I and other
members of the community continue to report issues daily to AQMD, I feel it is imperative that we are
aware of actions El Segundo is taking as well.
As always, thank you for your time and help.
Sincerely,
Erin Falati

I wrote this back on July 22nd and it has, in fact, only gotten worse. I hope we can work to get Hyperion to be a good
public entity once again as clearly, they are not and have no care or consideration for the- poisons they are compromising
our quality of life and future health. I wanted to be at the next council meeting, but I have a conflict. Please advocate for
the residents of El Segundo - especially those on the west side.

Hello City Council members:
The quality of life in ES has been severely compromised by our air quality.
I don't know why Hyperion, that used to be a reasonable neighbor has gone to the dark side with no answers.
What they are saying about our air quality makes no sense since they claim it has nothing to do with July 11th yet, that
was the beginning of our nightmare.
I live on Dune and have been here for more than 30 years so clearly I have a wide lens.
It was so nice that for so many years, at least 20, they were great neighbors- so great, I would forget that Hyperion was
even there.
We can't use our backyard - never knowing if it's gonna smell like . Our health is being compromised with no
answers or solutions. What the heck changed and why has it not been remedied for more than a year.
It is time to hold Hyperion's feet to the fire and get to the bottom of this.
Whether it is independent air monitoring or physical review of the stink factory - enough is enough!
Thank You Scot for helping us to understand the quagmire of govt run-around and finger pointing - and I found it
especially interesting that both AQMD and Barbara Romero were not at the meeting -speaks volumes.
Let's get those high management people to stay in El Segundo and see if they think there is an issue!!!! Have them walk
a mile in our shoes, especially on the west end. I would welcome one of them to stay with me.
Now we are living in the shoes of Flint Michigan... Nobody cares and nothing is working. Let's work to shed the El Stinko,
where the sewer meets the sea and Small Segundo. Enough is enough.
Thank you
