Scoring Committee
Dear Committee Members,
My name is and I am writing to express my support for the City of
Los Angeles Sanitation and Environment's (LA Sanitation) proposed Imperial Highway Green
Infrastructure Project for Fiscal Year 23-24 funding consideration by the Safe, Clean Water
Program's Regional Infrastructure Program.
I am part of a group of stakeholders who have collaborated with LA Sanitation and Environment
on this project and are pleased to share our support. The Project area extends along Imperial
Highway from California Street to Vista del Mar in Westchester and is bounded on the north by
the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and on the south by the City of El Segundo.
The project presents numerous public health, safety and community investment benefits for
the residents of the cities of Los Angeles and El Segundo; visitors to Dockweiler State Beach;
and employees and visitors accessing the south side of LAX.
The Imperial Highway Green Infrastructure Project is a unique and collaborative approach to
enhancing water quality for our neighborhoods and beaches; improving safety along Imperial
Highway for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists; beautifying the local community through
enhancements to the median; and enhancing local sustainability through the incorporation of
nature -based solutions, including bioswales and tree planting along Imperial Highway.
I am proud to join the City of Los Angeles LA Sanitation Environment, City of El Segundo, Los
Angeles World Airports and local community groups to lend our support to the Imperial
Highway Green Infrastructure Project.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Safe Clean Imperial Highway Green

The City of Los Angeles Sanitation and Environment is working with the
local stakeholders, including the Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), City
of El Segundo, City of Los Angeles Department of Transportation, local
residents and community -based organizations to develop a project to
beautify the Imperial Highway median from California Street to Vista
del Mar, expand recreational opportunities, and capture, reuse, and
recycle stormwater runoff from the adjacent neighborhoods.
A key project objective is to provide enhanced water quality benefits
to the local community by reducing stormwater pollutants that would
otherwise flow to the ocean. Sediments, metals (zinc, copper, and lead),
bacteria, and trash will be removed before reaching Dockweiler State
Beach, improving water quality.
The Imperial Highway median is owned and operated by the City of
Los Angeles and is located within the Santa Monica Bay Watershed.
Los Angeles Sanitation and Environment will be seeking funding for
the Imperial Highway Green Infrastructure Project from the County of
Los Angeles Safe Clean Water Program. The Safe Clean Water Program
provides local, dedicated funding to increase water supply, improve
water quality and provide community enhancements throughout the
County while supporting compliance with federal clean water mandates
and addressing climate change.
