How Can Members of the Public Observe and Provide Public Comments? Members of the Public are welcome to attend the live meeting and speak during the Public Communications agenda item. Members of the Public may provide comments electronically to Director Elias Sassoon via email at esassoon _elsegundo.org, with a limit of 150 words and accepted up until 30 minutes prior to the meeting. The emails will be read to the Public Works/Environmental Committee during public communications and are subject to disclosure under the Public Records Act. Additional Information The Public Works/Environmental Committee, with certain statutory exceptions, can only take action upon properly posted and listed agenda items. Unless otherwise noted in the Agenda, the public can only comment on City -related business that is within the subject matter jurisdiction of the Public Works/Environmental Committee, and items listed on the Agenda during the Public Communications portion of the meeting. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 12:16 pm, held virtually via Zoom. 2. ROLL CALL The following Committee Members were present: • Tracey Miller-Zarneke, Resident, Local Business, Committee Chair s Corrie Zupo, Resident, Vice Chair • Sarah Brockhaus, Resident, Member • Caroline Hawks, Resident, Member Member Janet Nam Miller and Member McPherson were not present. The following City staff were present: o Elias Sassoon, City of El Segundo, Director of Public Works • Anjello Sotelo, City of El Segundo, Office of the City Manager 3, PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: Mr. Craig Cadwallader spoke regarding upcoming LA County Supervisor's meeting regarding plastic Ordinances, and the fact that there are other unincorporated LA County and LA City regions are looking at this issue. 4. REPORTS: Public Works a. Hyperion Incident Update: Director Sassoon reported the various articles which have recently been published as well as the letter from the Mayor to the councilmembers of the City of LA regarding Hyperion. He also reported on two AQMD hearings regarding Hyperion. He also mentioned about a neighborhood meeting which was set-up by Hyperion last Wednesday regarding the Hyperion Perimeter Road. b. Committee Status and Bylaw Review: The additional comments from the Committee were forwarded to the City Manager's office for further processing, and there was no update information. c. Form 700 Reminder: This form was executed by all members successfully. 5. ACTION ITEMS: None 6. REPORTS: COMMITTEE MEMBERS a. Beach Clean: Vice Chair Zupo is leading these efforts. The event is scheduled to take place on July 30th from 9 am to 11 am. She will send an email to Director Sassoon with details so the info can be posted on city website. EDCO will provide a dumpster. b. Farmer Market Date Options: This effort is spear -headed by Chair Miller-Zarneke and is meant to inspire organics recycling and provide information regarding composting. The selected date is April 21, 2022 from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Director Sassoon will post this info on the City website once Madam Chair provides this info to him. Member Hawks will create a new poster hopefully by next week and will forward to Director Sassoon for printing and mounting on a standee by Chair Miller-Zarneke. c. Progress with Recycling via Ralph's Collection: efforts to return the "blow -away plastics" collection and CRV redemption to our local Ralph's will continue to be made by Chair Miller-Zarneke. No further update. d. Other Committee Focus Topics: None 7. CONSENT AGENDA: Approval of Minutes for March 4, 2022 meeting. Member Hawks moved to approve; Vice Chair Zupo seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. 8. ADJOURNMENT: Closing announcement: Next meeting will be held in person (unless informed otherwise by Director Sassoon) on May 13, 2022, at noon.
