We propose to perform the following scope of work: Existing Pier Footings - Additional Investigation Scope Explore the site by performing one additional hand -excavated test -pit to a maximum depth of 7-feet below existing grade, (pier that was not investigated to full depth previously). Determine the amount and size of existing pier foundation reinforcement. We will work with a subcontractor on site the day of our investigation to scan and map existing pier footings from the near surface to determine rebar size and spacing. Although not guaranteed, GPR methods have been proven to be reliable in locating steel reinforcement in concrete masses. Determine concrete compressive strength of existing pier footings. We will work with a subcontractor on site the day of our investigation to core and remove a representative section of the existing pier footing for testing. A core approximately 2.5-inch-diameter by 6-inch-tall will be removed from each footing. Compression testing will be completed by an accredited materials lab. We will core an area that will have a negligible effect on the footing's overall strength, and we will patch back the void with high strength concrete. Take numerous Schmidt Hammer readings on both scoreboard pier footings and correlate with compression test results. 23241 Arroyo Vista Rancho Santa Margarita I CA 92688 949 888 6513 1 FX: 949 8881380 I www gmugeo com Agreement No. 6209B Mr. Elias Sassoon, CITY OF EL SEGUNDO PROPOSAL: Additional Investigation and Structural Analysis Services —George Brett Field Scoreboard Foundation, City of El Segundo, CA Existing Pier Footings - Additional Structural Analysis Scope Determine minimum amount of steel reinforcement required for the pier footings based on the determined concrete compression strength and design loadings. Determine if existing pier footings are structurally sound with respect to material strengths, and material volumes based on the design loadings from the proposed new scoreboard sign. Revise soils report based on new findings. Schedule — We anticipate that we can complete the investigation specified above by mid to end of next week. Obtaining reports from our subcontractors and completing our analysis should be available within a week after completion of our field investigation.
