Connection to and utilization of existing scoreboard foundations will be possible provided the footings meet minimum foundation requirements per our analysis. Foundation internal strength with respect to amount and size of reinforcement, (if any) and strength of concrete will not be inspected or reported in any way per our scope of work outlined below. We proposed to perform the following scope of work: Task 1— Geotechnical Investigation Geotechnical Site ]nvesti gatioii • Perform a site visit to mark the location of our planned subsurface exploration. As required by law, we will notify Underground Service Alert (USA) of the proposed exploration location prior to exploratory excavation. • Explore the site by performing one (1) hand -excavated test -pit to a maximum depth of 8-feet below the existing grade at the proposed location of the scoreboard. • Confirm scoreboard footing diameter and embedment in relation to the lowest adjacent grade. Confirm connection type between the existing steel W-Section columns and concrete footings. Confirm surface grading at foundation location. • Collect bulk and relatively undisturbed soil samples for geotechnical laboratory testing. 23241 Arroyo Vista Rancho Santa Margarita I CA 92688 949 888 6513 1 FX: 949 8881380 I www gmugeo com Agreement No. 6209A Mr. Elias Sassoon, CITY OF EL SEGUNDO PROPOSAL: Geotechnical and Structural Design Services, George Brett Field Scoreboard Foundation, City of El Segundo, CA Task 2 — Geotechnical Laboratory Testing lalaor'ator° "1"csti.n • Perform laboratory testing to evaluate various engineering properties of the sub- surface materials. Laboratory testing will likely consist of in -place moisture and density, soil classification, direct shear testing, and corrosion testing. Task 3 — Geotechnical Engineering Analysis and Structural Design Services Geotechnical Engincerimmrm7 Anal scs / Desi" ii Letter Preoaratioji • Analyze laboratory testing results to determine the sites deep foundation design parameters such as axial capacity, (end bearing and skin -friction), lateral capacity, and minimum required CIDH caisson diameter and embedment. • Provide a geotechnical design parameters letter with laboratory testing results and drill hole logs to be attached to the structural calculations packet for submission to the City of El Segundo. Str-aactural Plans and Structural Calculations • Complete structural analysis to determine if the existing foundation meets minimum requirements per the referenced geotechnical design letter and code requirements for overturning, embedment, and bearing capacity. The structural packet will be supported by the geotechnical design parameters letter from Task 1. • Complete structural analysis for the connection of the new scoreboard steel columns / posts to the existing foundation provided they meet the minimum requirements explained above. • Provide structural details for the scoreboard column connection to the existing foundation for submission to the City of El Segundo, and the contractor for use during construction/installation. City Plan Check • GMU understands that City plan check comments will be limited. Response to a single round of plan check comments will be provided under our scope if required. Note: Task 2 will be performed for the type of scoreboard which the city desires to have installed. The construction plans will also include detailed assembly based on the manufacturer's recommendations. Further, construction plans must include a note that the contractor must obtain an electrical permit and a building permit. It must also have a note that the contractor must provide the electrical connection to the scoreboard and must make sure that the amperage/voltage is compatible with the manufacturer's requirements. November 19, 2021 2 GMU Proposal P-21307 Agreement No. 6209A Mr. Elias Sassoon, CITY OF EL SEGUNDO PROPOSAL: Geotechnical and Structural Design Services, George Brett Field Scoreboard Foundation, City of El Segundo, CA Schedule — We anticipate that we can mark the site for dig -alert within 1-week from notice to proceed. Investigation can be completed within 2-weeks from notice to proceed. Upon completion of investigation, we anticipate an additional week for lab testing followed by an additional 2-weeks for design parameters letter, structural design, and plans. Total of up to 5 weeks for completion of all deliverables. ESTIMATED FEE We will provide the above outline scope of work on a time -and -materials basis in accordance with the attached 2021 Schedule of Charges. The estimated cost for each task is as follows: Task 1 — Geotechnical Investigation... .............. ........ .................. . ..........$ 7,500 Task 2 — Geotechnical Laboratory Testing................................................................$ 2,750 Task 2 — Geotechnical Engineering Analysis and Structural Design Services,..........$ 5,500 ➢ Total Estimated Cost (Tasks 1 through 3)......................................S 15,750 Please notify us immediately if the proposed scope of services does not meet your current needs, or if any significant changes are made to the proposed development so that we can revise our scope of services. Revision of the scope of services may affect the estimated fee. LIMITATIONS The proposed budget is dependent on the following items: The above costs include a single round of response to plan check comments. Analysis of existing scoreboard foundations are limited to external stability based on size and embedment only. Concrete strength, amount and size of reinforcement, flexural and shear strength of existing footings will not be analyzed or discussed in our final report. If it is found that the existing foundation is insufficient based on external stability an additional / modified proposal may be provided for a complete design of new scoreboard foundations November 19, 2021 3 GMU Proposal P-21307 Agreement No. 6209A Mr. Elias Sassoon, CITY OF EL SEGUNDO PROPOSAL: Geotechnical and Structural Design Services, George Brett Field Scoreboard Foundation, City of El Segundo, CA CLOSURE We look forward to working with you on this project.
