A. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 4:04 p.m. and roll call was conducted by Shad McFadden.
B. ROLL CALL

D. PRESENTATION
Consultant Jimmy Pete conducted a presentation on How Unconscious Bias Impacts Gender
Equity. Committee discussed the topic.
E. APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES
Motion: to approve the Wednesday, June 9, 2021 meeting minutes with the corrected name of
Aerospace Corporation and Space and Missile Systems given by Member Abercrombie was made by
Member Villena and Seconded by Member Abercrombie. Motion carried 8-0

1. Community Garden
Motion: to support the Community Garden Committee was made by Member Wood and
Seconded by Member Smith. Motion carried 7-0
2. DEI Committee: Role in Responding to Community Feedback
David King, Assistant City Attorney is currently working on language for the survey waiver and
website. Barbara will receive a draft by the end of the week.
G. NEW BUSINESS
1. Discussion of LA Times Articles Dated July 6, 2021 on Diversity in EL Segundo
Committee discussed both articles.

H. REPORT OF SUBCOMMITTEE
1. Public Safety
PD has completed a contract with Veritone. A system that collects data regarding all stops.
Chief is expecting to begin training and testing the system in the next 2-3 months.
2. Citywide Organization
GARE application membership approved as of June 24rh. Diversity and Inclusion Policy
updated and forwarded for finalization. Rebecca Redyk, R Director will join upcoming
subcommittee meeting on July 20Th.
3. Local Economy
First Panel with Aerospace Corporation and Space and Missile Systems Center on July 15'h.
150 people have registered across 45 different corporations.
4. Community At Large
Moving forward the subcommittee would like to look into the city's history.
