From: Jessica Daugherty <rnolandaugherty@gmail.com> Date: Sunday, February 28, 2021 at 3:22 PM To: "Mitnick, Scott" <smitnick@elsegundo.or > Subject: Greenway bullets Hi Scott, Please see below for some relevant points about the Greenway along Aviation Blvd. I also attached a visual of some of the concurrent transit projects. This shows how needed this stretch of bikeway truly is in order to connect the region. Overview: A Greenway along this stretch will beautify the Eastern border of El Segundo. This is the most travelled border of El Segundo and it does not market the City well. Project Benefits: • Enhance multi -modal first/last mile transportation to/from Imperial Metro Station • Complete a necessary section of the LA County Regional Bike Plan and South Bay Regional Bike Plan. This stretch of road is identified as a priority in the South Bay Regional Bike Plan and the LA County Regional Bike Plan however, there are NOT yet any bike lanes yet along the corridor. • Ensure safe passage for students to/from Wiseburn Unified and Da Vinci Schools along Aviation Blvd. and El Segundo Blvd. • Enhance safety for pedestrians, students, and cyclists. • Increase accessibility to businesses in El Segundo and across the South Bay • Boost economic investment along the rapidly changing entrance to El Segundo (attract businesses and increase property values) • Increase green space/park space in a blighted corridor Potential Funding: • Federal Active Transportation Grant — state level funding, available every 2 years, preference for City applicants Grants are due Sept. 15, 2020. • Metro Active Transportation — Measure M County Dollars (2% of Measure M Tax revenue put aside into this pot) • Parks and Rec Measure A Grant • South Bay Council of Governments (SBCOG) — Sub Regional Dollars- available annually • LA County Department of Public Works Bike Route Funding • LA County District 2 and 4 Discretionary Funds • Water and environmental Grants from Water District- via Scott Houston • Arts funds- can be used to beautify the walking and biking path and develop art features.
